I see that western diplomats in Zimbabwe and mainstream media have finally woken up to the fact that Mugabe is nothing more than a figurehead.  Catherine Philip of the Times in London reports online today that, “The campaign of terror sweeping Zimbabwe is being directly organised by a junta that took over the running of the country after Robert Mugabe’s shock election defeat in March…”  She quotes western diplomats.  (But you read about this first on BNN April 03, when I posted my report, “Mugabe Admits Defeat”, and again on BNN May 12, “Zimbabwe, Burma, China and all that”.)

Now the terror is being ramped up, with Human Rights Lawyers fleeing the country and Food Agencies stopped from distributing food to the people.  Four million of the roughly eight million people left in Zimbabwe are going hungry (the other four million of a roughly twelve million population have fled to neighbouring countries).

Military and police forces in this latest terror campaign are now using AK47 rifles and hand guns to kill instead of merely batons to beat the people into submission.  This is all out war by the military against the people of Zimbabwe.

I cannot predict how this will end, except with Mugabe being “re-elected” by force later this month.  In the short term Mugabe will continue as a figurehead for the military junta.  But things will change soon thereafter…
