If it looks like a scam, smells like a scam, it might well be a scam!

I will be the first to admit that I was not in the best of moods when I picked up the ringing telephone. My mood darkened when it became clear that what I was listening to was not a real person, rather a recorded message. They were offering to lower my Credit Card rate. I was immediately interested. While neither my wife nor I have one, this obviously was a great opportunity to improve our lives 🙂

The recording suggested that if I wanted to talk to a representative, I should press 9. I did.

“are you calling about the credit card deal?” the man asks.

I think the best description of the conversation that followed is that it was short. When I asked who he represented (which company) he got very quiet. When I asked where he was based, he got even quieter. I think I likely caught him off guard with me telling him to remove me from his calling list.

Not even Jerry Springer gets to listen to such words! I like Jerry, he rolls with the punches. This idiot on the other hand had no class. Joe Blow went off on a wonderful use of expletives, although I did detect a minor defect in his vocabulary. He tended to favor the ‘F’ word. As I recall he managed to use it as a verb, a noun, an adjective, and just about in every other possible way.

The number   631-926-3674 on a google search shows that it is out of New York, the number also seems to belong to a ‘dial out’ only number. It is obviously a VOIP (Voice Over/IP). When you call it, the caller unfortunately is unavailable “Message two, switch zero zero three”. What does that gibberish mean? Obviously this is not a reputable company, so who is this person? How can he offer to lower our credit card rates? It is quite simple, IT’S A SCAM.

Lets find this toad. If you have any info on 631-926-3674 please leave a comment.
