A truck driver and laborer has filed a lawsuit against eight nine defendants in Madison County Circuit Court, after claiming to have been exposed to deadly asbestos over a career than spanned nearly half a century.

William Kirk of Ohio filed his complaint on 11 th August, and claims that he became aware that he had the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, early in June of this year. He had been working from 1960 to 2008, and claims that he was exposed to deadly asbestos dust and fibers over the course of his career.

The complaint states that the defendants named in the lawsuit should have been aware that asbestos exposure could cause serious and even deadly diseases. Amongst the diseases that can be caused through asbestos exposure are scarring of the lungs, serious respiratory problems, and a form of cancer known as mesothelioma.

The complaint stated that the “Plaintiff remained ignorant and uninformed of the hazards of asbestos, failed to take precautions and was thereby exposed to…asbestos fibers, causing him to develop the asbestos disease.”
