Yesterday Mannie Barling and Simon Barrett discussed the latest developments in the George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin case. Joining us on air were LA based attorney Peter Haven and Author Sam Moffie.

The hot story of the week in the case was the revelation that contrary to testimony given at the Bond hearing, George Zimmerman is far from broke. He apparently amassed over $200,000 in donations through a web site he had created prior to his arrest.

While certain factions have made much about this fact, it really seems to boil down to the prosecution dropping the ball at the hearing. Indeed the subject of donations did come up during the hearing, but they were asking all the wrong people. As far as I can tell, no one lied, merely that some information was not volunteered.

The Trayvon Martin case is clearly the one that has attracted the attention of the press, but it is far from the only case that has elements of race and ‘Stand Your Ground’ implications. Two names that you likely have never heard of are Marissa Alexander and Matthew Owens, yet their stories are as compelling and complex as George Zimmerman.

Marissa Alexander is facing a minimum of 20 years in prison, yet hurt no one. This case is being called Trayvon on reverse. It is well worth reading about it. Time has an interesting article

The Matthew Owens story is equally disturbing. Matthew was savagely beaten by a mob.

Neither of these cases have received much attention, but they are very troublesome. Interestingly enough the usual mouthpieces on racial profiling and racial inequality are being very quiet about these two stories.
