The team, Simon and Jan Barrett, Mannie Barling, Dave Knechell, Denny Griffin and William Cobra Staubs are going to take a look a cold case this week.
On a balmy midsummer’s night in 1989, eighteen-year-old Kaitlyn Arquette was shot to death as she drove home along a deserted strip of New Mexico highway. The police called it a random shooting – even though it had all of the earmarks of a professional hit…
Mother Lois Duncan from Who Killed My Daughter.
Kaitlyn Arquette was killed more than 20 years ago, yet no-one has been brought to justice. Kait Arquette is just a statistic, she is but one of many thousands of murders that have gone unsolved. Kait’s story though is quite unique, motives, suspects, and information are in abundance. The only thing missing is a willingness by the authorities to do some investigating.
Why might this be?
Kait’s mother Lois Duncan certainly would like to know the answer to that question. Lois is a well known author and in 1992 penned the best seller ‘Who Killed My Daughter’. She was interviewed by all of the major networks, yet nothing seemed to sway the hand of the authorities.
Facts became merely inconvenient aspects in a ridiculous case that led nowhere.
Pat Caristo is a private investigator that has been working on this case for almost 20 years. She will be joining us on Sunday to help us understand what happened to Kait Arquette.
I am not a Conspiracy Theorist, but this case is so bizarre that one has to wonder who was pulling the strings on the puppets acting out the investigation.
You can get a basic taste of the case by looking at this site. But it merely scratches the surface.
Pat and Lois have produced a two hour DVD documentary, that people should watch, hopefully they will be able to find a way to place it on the internet.
Ethnic gangs, corruption and Insurance scams, are only the beginning. When I shared the story with my wife Jan, she quietly said ‘are you crazy, we will be on the hit list next’!
Lois Duncan has agreed to join us on the Sunday Afternoon Murder club for part two of the story, and that will on Sunday Sept/10.
Please join us to help solve this cold case.
Also on the program we will discuss the bizarre case of Lawrence King. Earlier this week a mistrial was declared because the jury were deadlocked. There was no question about how Lawrence King died, and there was no question as to who killed him. A class full of students witnessed the senseless slaying.
In my mind even the brain dead jury that found Casey Anthony Not Guilty could have resolved this case! So what was the problem? In some ways it could be viewed as a ‘murder of passion’, although with a slight twist. Larry King was gay, and his killer was not. The defense insisted that Larry King provoked classmate Brandon McInerney by sexual advances that were unwelcome.
This ‘gay’ defense has been used before, but I cannot recall a case where it has been used so effectively. This begs the question, with money constraints, bad publicity, and elections in the not to distant future, does the State Of California prosecution team take another swipe at the case?
Obviously the Gay community says YES, but how much clout do they have in the politics of Los Angeles?
The listen live link is here. I do hope that you will join us for what is going to be a great program, 4pm eastern, 1pm pacific on Sunday Sept/4
