Artificial Intelligence (A.I). Some people think that it’s going to take over the world. Some people think that’s just nonsense. I’m not saying that one group of people is right over the other here. I’m just going to explain the affect that A.I. has on the people. Hear me out.

Back in the day, if you wanted to order something inside McDonald’s, you:

  1. Walked in
  2. Told the cashier what you wanted
  3.  Waited for your food to be prepared

Today, things are much different. Now, when you walk into the burger joint, instead of telling the cashier what you want, you tell an A.I..

Now don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great for the consumers. It cuts down the amount of wait-time you experience when ordering your meal because more customers can order their meals simultaneously. So, it’s great. It works.

But replacing an employee with an A.I. has a negative affect on people as well.

Think about it: by installing computers that consumers can place their orders through, McDonald’s no longer needs a cashier. Thus, the A.I. eliminates a job that a person could have. They eliminate a way for humans to generate income.

Now, I know this is a small-scale example. But think about the same principle on a larger scale. What happens when technology is advanced enough to cook, prepare, and serve your Big Mac meal too? Would McDonald’s need any employees anymore? After all, A.I.’s don’t make mistakes, they are more efficient, they are cheaper in the long-run. So it’s only logical for McDonald’s to replace all of their employees with A.I.’s.

So if you think about it, A.I. is affecting the way humans work. A.I. is affecting the way people make money. A.I. is going to affect everything.

Today’s Brain Teaser

What happens when the role of teachers can be automated by A.I.? Or the role of police officers? What about politicians?
