Last nights debate was a train wreck. But like most train wrecks, it was operator error. Jim Lehrer lost control of the train as it hurtled downhill with the brakes off. I am quite frankly amazed that a veteran like Jim Lehrer would permit two people to trample all over him.

But, it is over, it is what it is!

The debate was ‘supposed to be’ about domestic issues, the economy is problem number 1?

I could be wrong here, but I think technology is an important subject. Yet little time was spent on the subject. It is clear that we cannot compete in manufacturing, other countries can assemble gizmos for less than we can. The Made In China/Korea/Japan sticker is on virtually everything. The US has been beaten in the game of manufacturing, but we have not been beat in design.

There are many fine products on sale that are designed here. There are few that are also built here.

I was appalled by Mitt Romney last night. There is not a sentient being on the planet that does not understand the need for sustainable resources and the damage we are causing the planet.

It is highly unlikely that I will ever be able to afford a Tesla car, but I like the concept of electric vehicles. Less pollution, less ‘green house gas’, what is not to love?

Sure, Tesla is a small company, sure, their products are outside of the budget of the average person. But they are at least trying. Mitt Romney on the other hand, just views Tesla as a waste of time and money.

But don’t forget, you put $90 billion, like 50 years’ worth of breaks, into—into solar and wind, to Solyndra and Fisker and Tesla and Ener1. I mean, I had a friend who said you don’t just pick the winners and losers, you pick the losers, all right? So this—this is not—this is not the kind of policy you want to have if you want to get America energy secure.

It is companies like Tesla that can make a difference. Tesla are not losers, they are the future. It is companies like Tesla that give us all hope. Oil and Gas is a finite resource, once gone, it is gone! The future is in new and innovative ways to harness and use energy that is around us. Sunlight, Wind, Waves, are a start.

I think that win or lose the election Mitt Romney blew it last night by dragging Tesla into his game!

Yes Tesla have a loan, but it is a loan that will be paid back. I think we got a real good look at Mitt Romney last night. Not even with his Kevlar Mormon Underwear on can he dodge the fact that the future belongs to thinkers not stinkers. Coal, Oil, Gas, sure you can live for a few years as president. But what happens when we run out of these things?

Tesla may have a product that is outside of the financial range of us working Joe’s, but it is a product that we can be proud of. I think it is disgraceful that Mitt Romney had the idiocy to call Tesla a loser.
