Two teenage boys have pleaded not guilty and are being held on $1 million bail each after appearing in court on charges that they used a plumber’s snake to sexually assault a developmentally disabled 21 year old handyman at the AMF Bowling Centers’ Shirley Lanes in Shirley, NY. Steven Rodriguez, 19, and Michael Lunsford, 17, were both arrested last week and reports indicate that they have been bullying the man for several years before finally attacking him with the snake and twisting it so far into his rectum that it had to be removed with a delicate surgical procedure that took several hours. Both boys are accused of taking turns twisting the snake into the man’s rectum.

They will be facing two counts of predatory sexual assault, aggravated sexual abuse and assault and if they are convicted they could face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison. “I cannot imagine how a person could possibly take a victim such as this … and do what they did. I don’t have to explain it to anybody, just the facts themselves tell us this is horrendous,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. Both defendants are due back in court on November 13th. The unnamed handyman spent four days in the hospital and may require additional surgery. His parents were in attendance for the court proceeding but refused to speak with the press.
