A teen in Jerseyville, IL (located around 40 miles north of St. Louis) died in a St. Louis hospital, after a confrontation with police led to him being shot with taser guns twice. According to a statement that was obtained by the AP, the teen was 17-year-old Roger Holyfield and at the time he was holding a bible and loudly screaming “I want Jesus,” when police arrived. Police tried to calm the teen down but he refused to acknowledge their presence and then became combative. The police tried to warn the teen but he refused to listen at which point he was shot with a taser gun. The report says that after he was fired on, the teen continued to struggle and so police had to fire at him a second time.

After the incident, the teen was flown to St. Louis’ Cardinal Glennon Hospital on Saturday and died on Sunday. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed on Tuesday of this week but as of the writing of this article no results were available to be reported.
