Ted Nugent seems to be rivaling Lindsay Lohan in the in the quest for having the worst publicity. Of course there is that old Hollywood saying about it not being important if the publicity is good or bad, it is all publicity.

Aging rocker Ted Nugent is no stranger to controversy, in fact he rather seems to thrive on it. In 2007 at a concert he declared “Obama’s a piece of shit, and I told him to suck on my machine gun.” That outburst luckily did not result in legal problems.

Way back in 1992 he was not quite so fortuitous. He ended up forking over $75,000 to to Heidi Prescott of the Fund for Animals for calling her a “worthless whore” and a “shallow slut,” then adding the sage advice “who needs to club a seal, when you can club Heidi?”

This week Ted managed to get himself in the headlines twice. At an NRA sponsored event in St. Louis recently he proudly stated that “If BARACK OBAMA becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

This drew the ire of the feds. On Thursday the Secret Service had a nice fireside chat with him. The exact conversation has not been revealed but one finds it hard to imagine it was a friendly discussion over a couple of cold beers.

On Friday Ted Nugent was once again in the news, this time the story was about a plea bargain he has accepted for the illegal killing of a Black bear in Alaska. The summary of the penalty, $10,000 fine, two years of probation, banned for a year from hunting on federal land and must make a Public Service Announcement that will be broadcast every two weeks for a year on his reality TV series.

All things considered Ted Did quite well for himself. One news source is claiming that Nugent snagged $15,000 the GOP coffers in Febuary:

Former Sangamon County Republican Chairman TONY LIBRI said the party got a good price, $15,000, to bring conservative activist and “Cat Scratch Fever” rocker TED NUGENT to Springfield.

The county GOP paid two installments of $7,505 each to the cleverly named Projectile Marketing — a moniker that fits right in with Nugent’s schtick of being the gun-loving hunter who doesn’t like the “America-hating punk” in the White House.

So that more than offsets the $10,000 for some recreational illegal hunting.

Of course it is not all roses for Ted Nugent, he has lost a gig on June/23 at Fort Knox.
