One year after leading his Pittsburgh Steelers to a Super Bowl victory, head coach Bill Cowher is resigning from his position, Fox Sports reports. Such a move had been thought possible, but most were leaning towards that he would instead elect to stay with the team he has rebuilt so well.

Cowher will announce his resignation on Monday, less than a week after meeting with both the team owner and general manager to discuss his future in the organization. Under Cowher’s direction, the Steelers have won eight division titles and made it to playoffs ten times. There are currently no plans on who will take over the head coaching job.

Bill Cowher will be missed.
