Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 16.29.29In June of this year, a former U.S. Secret Service Agent took control of a private security force at Shell-Motiva Norco site, a major refinery in Louisiana.

The gentleman in question has impeccable credentials, including at one point in his distinguished career, as a Special Agent-in-Charge of the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security.

He obviously had a lot to offer in terms of specialist expertise and experience.

Unfortunately, his new position was allegedly very quickly undermined by a Shell-Motiva Security Supervisor, Ms Jo Kerkhoff , before he had even got into his stride.

Her behaviour was inexplicable. She tried to treat this former federal law enforcement officer like a junior underling. It is alleged that she was power hungry, hostile, rude and abrasive, with a reputation at the site for being vindictive.

He made an unsuccessful attempt to defuse the situation after first seeking and obtaining the okay from senior management for the content of a conciliatory email to Jo Kerkhoff.

It did not have the desired effect. Instead, the former Secret Service Agent discovered that Jo had carried out an unauthorised and therefore potentially illegal and certainly unethical, “background investigation,” on him. He was also the subject of  surveillance by one of her minions.

He was astonished at such unprofessional conduct.

The turn of events that led to his departure was so odd that the former federal law enforcement officer, responsible in one region for the Criminal Investigative Service of a  branch of the U.S. armed forces, wondered if he had stumbled across criminal activity, which made his presence undesirable?

I have verified the credentials of the gentleman in question and passed on the proof to senior management at Royal Dutch Shell Plc.

I have also seen internal Shell-Motiva email correspondence backing up his allegations.

I invited Shell and Jo Kerkhoff (via Shell) to refute these allegations.

No response was forthcoming.
