Supporters of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) continue to demonstrate that their candidate’s campaign is for real by putting their money where their mouths are. The Paul campaign was able to defy the traditional logic that the third quarter is a slow time of the year, by posting a 114% gain in donations. The campaign was quick to point out that Rudy Giuliani suffered a 40% decrease in contributions. Mitt Romney dipped by 29%, and John McCain dropped by 55%.
Even though Romney and Giuliani suffered a decline, they along with Fred Thompson still raised more money than Paul’s $5 million. However the Paul campaign has a lot to be happy about. “Dr. Paul’s message is freedom, peace and prosperity,” said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul’s message.”
What has been rather discouraging is the lack of seriousness with which the media has treated this news. I am not a supporter of any candidate, including Ron Paul, but I believe that his campaign should be treated the same way as all the others. Because the Paul message is about personal liberty, the campaign tends to attract some conspiracy theorists and others of that type, the media dismisses any news relating to Paul. Â
The campaign itself has made it clear that they are running on a traditional small government conservative platform, but this hasn’t stopped many from labeling the Paul camp crazy. The candidate can’t do anything about the type of people that support the campaign, or the beliefs that some of those people may hold. Ron Paul is simply a small government conservative, and even though the system is rigged against his type of small campaign, he deserves to at least have his message heard.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackAbout time a real article is written about this man thank you. My first time ever donating to any political campaign, and i guess my $100 helped. His campaign has now become a bill to me i will support him till he gets elected.
Re-Legalize Liberty…restore the Constitution…elect Ron Paul
Finally Media will take him seriously.
Ron Paul is what the country needs. Real peace and freedom at last.
The only candidate that can win for America, is Ron Paul.
I’ll echo thanks for this genuinely reasonable article. It’s refreshing to have a neutral observer make the observation about the natural attraction of fringe elements to a platform of personal liberty.
Uhh… 4th place? Really? You may have broken the story before anyone else has!
Did I miss McCain, Romney, and Guiliani releasing their fundraising totals? Last news that I heard was that these guys have declined to release their totals yet. While, you are most likely correct once the totals are released, your premature post is wildly well… premature.
I don’t agree with Ron Paul on everything, but I do know that he’s about the only candidate out there that I can vote for. I think he’s wrong about the war; we’re there, so let’s fight it to win and then get out! But having said that, I donated to his campaign, and I will vote for him.
Nice article. You reported the facts, and refrained from adding any personal bias. You don’t have to be a Ron Paul supporter to acknowledge that his platform deserves to be heard.
