Krugman tells it as it is again in his column today:

Emboldened by the prospect of election gains, the ‘Tea Party’ Republicans — most of them are that now — are as usual blocking support for those in need (e.g. extended unemployment benefits keeping people alive) and demanding tax cuts for the rich. As I have stated previously, these guys want to convert us from a just democracy to a corrupt oligarchy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oligarchy
I gather that our six major TV and radio outlets are owned and operated by our Republican oligarchs bent on conning people into voting for them. With out media in their hands, they may just succeed — at least in part.
Obama has done what he can in the reform department. He may in the future be forced to veto Republican corruption which abounds all around us. He was stuck with Cheney/Bush governmental operatives which it takes time to replace and the Republicans are blocking these reform efforts with full force — delays and lies and attacks on any with expertise in such areas.
I worry desperately for our children — many hungry now and others having their education budgets slashed.
As I have suggested previously, we are now engaged in a global economic war — not the military threats of the past. The Republicans will surely lose this new war for us.

Uh, exactly how long do you think the government should continue giving free money to people that don’t work? How many times have they extended these benefits already? Do you have any idea where that money comes from, Mr. Kent? It comes from the corporations and businesses that would otherwise have the extra money to hire more people, but because they are strapped down with all these new taxes, are cutting jobs instead. Continuing to give those not working will only create more people not working. It’s quite simple logic…oh, I forgot, you liberal statists don’t apply logic to your reasoning. And yes, we believe in cutting taxes to spur the economy, but now for just the rich, for everybody.
Mr. Kent,
You need an education in economics and history. Economics: There is just no more money. We have got to stop spending.
Historically: Socialism in all its different iterations has never worked.
Churchill was correct: “Capitalism distributes wealth unequally. Socialism distributes misery equally.”
Sorry to see how misled these commentators are.
They have bought the Tea Party Line.
If this is true Mr Kent, please tell us how we’re wrong. If the points we’ve made above are wrong, please disprove them with facts, and not the shallow, “bought the Tea Party line”
That’s what I thought, Mr. Empty Rhetoric. You obviously are not educated enough to defend your foolish stances on issues with any facts whatsoever
