This just in from TJ Hart of SKY 97.3 – Jan Barrett
To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature,
* The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
* Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
* Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
* War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more.
* Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
* Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
* The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.
Every “government service” has failed while overspending our tax dollars AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??
Sincerely,
TJ Hart

Amen!
Never heard it put better.
Absolutely correct and yet they still pursue their nonsense policies. This Government needs to be run like a business where they are accountable to the shareholders.
rhane – considering this country’s recent experiences with “businesses,” I’m not sure that’s the answer either! Do I need to spell out ENRON (and the many others)?
Also when the only accountability is to shareholders who expect to make more money every year, a lot of good things are lost (like ethics, moral responsibility). I’ve often wondered why a company and it’s shareholders can’t decide – “Hey! Let’s be satisfied earning the same amount we did last year instead of firing 100 people?”
But I’ve never heard of that.
TJ, I would have had a lot more respect for you if you had written this article during the Bush administration – leaving out the HC part obviously because the rest of it applied in spades to that A-hole. But, obviously that would not have fit with your agenda of damaging Obama.
But it was Bush and his cronies who made social security, medicare, education, etc WORSE for the neediest. But, apparently, that was okay with you.

a/Bush didn’t make anything worse for “the neediest” the FAILED FEDERAL PROGRAMS DID.
bBush was in office for EIGHT YEARS. Maybe your lousy reading skills are a reflection of your poor voting decision supporting Øgabe, BUT THIS ESSAY REFLECTS ON HUNDREDS OF YEARS.
b/ When Bush (forced by a Dem congress) overspent on useless programs, CONSERVATIVES FOUGHT HIM, and democrats like you SUPPORTED THE SPENDING.
