A star of the hit Fox show “Prison Break” allegedly drank alcohol before getting behind the wheel of a Land Rover and crashing into a tree last Saturday night, killing a 17-year-old and injuring two 15-year-olds. According to the Web site www.tmz.com, 26-year-old Lane Garrison had several shots of Grey Goose Vodka at a party before wrecking the sport utility vehicle in Beverly Hills. Garrison’s attorney, Harland Braun, has said his client had only one drink at the high school party and was not intoxicated when he drove his three passengers. Garrison arrived at the party with the three teenagers, who he had met earlier that night, with the bottle of vodka. Eyewitnesses said Garrison drank shots of the vodka, offering them to others. Photos allegedly were taken. Garrison left the party with the three teenagers when the alcohol supply dwindled to make a run to the store. Partygoers began to worry when they hadn’t returned after four hours and went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where 17-year-old Vahagn Setian died.
According to a story in the Toronto Sun, several eyewitnesses said Garrison showed signs of being intoxicated. At a news conference, police Lt. Mitch McCann said, “Mr. Garrison displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication, and the investigation into Mr. Garrison’s impairment is ongoing.”
Braun says Garrison had one margarita earlier that night at a restaurant and one drink at a party. He said Garrison had being having problems with his vehicle’s brakes and alignment.
“Who knows if someone put something in his drink at the party,” Braun said. “Nobody knows what happened, it’s a mystery.”
Garrison has not been charged. A test to determine his blood-alcohol level could take several weeks for results. Garrison played thief David “Tweener” Apoliskis, who escaped from prison but eventually was shot and killed.
