Oh, my… d’you think Benedict is being too subtle for the ever seething and resentful Moslem street? To quote from this story: “The pope… also urged religious leaders from all faiths to reject attempts to wield political power. He called on them to, in his words, “utterly refuse to sanction recourse to violence as a legitimate expression of religion.”

No reaction from the Seethers-in-Chief yet; probably still trying to work out the meanings of words of more than two syllables. But today’s prize for fatuous self-congratulatory foolishness goes to the writer of this repellently smug editorial in Lebanon’s Daily Star newspaper. The lead says it all: “Christians and Muslims don’t know nearly enough about each other”

I’ll not be passing judgment on what the average Moslem knows about Christians; not much and little of it particularly accurate would be my guess, but of late we Christians have had to learn quite a lot about Islam, particularly as the MSM is always banging on and on about it being a religion of peace. In pure self-defense, a lot of us lately have started to read up. With me, the curious result has been that the more I read about Islam, Mohammad, the Koran, et cetera, the more I was repelled by everything about it, root and branch, bag and baggage. I regarded the Islamic world much more favorably back before I had to know the difference between a Sunni and a Shia, about imams and ayatollahs, and the caliphate. No, knowledge of Islam is not the problem with Christians… the problem is, we now know too much about it.
