Actor Sean Penn speaks at anti-war rally

Sean Penn was the celebrity draw at a town hall meeting in San Francisco last night, with hundreds in attendence.  He was joined by Representative Barbara Lee of Oakland before the boistrous 800 or so supporters.

Uhh… wait… back up – The official count by organizers was between 500 and 700.  The police department declined to give a head count, though it was noted the number appeared to be significantly smaller.

Anyhow…  a highlight from Mr Penn’s speech –
You [we’re guessing the President here] and your smarmy pundits, and the smarmy pundits in your pocket, can take your war and shove it!

Had to go look that up –
smarmy [adj]
Hypocritically or effusively earnest; unctuous.

Oh, ok…

Wait… unctuous?
Back to
unctuous [adj]
Excessive piousness or moralistic fervor.
Moralistic fervor?  Who does that remind me of… oh yeh, that actor guy, something Penn.

The rest of the article is linked below, if you want to go read it.
Near the end, Mr Penn did throw in that famous [infamous? ridiculous?] disclaimer, to show he’s a good guy.
We do support our troops, but not the exploitation of them and their families!

The proof of that, of course was his trip to Iran.
“But but but” you’re saying, “we don’t have troops in Iran”.
Hmmm… right… so who’s troops was he supporting?
