When the press finally got around to visiting the deteriorating Walter Reed Army Medical center, I predicted wait til they “discover” the problems with the VA…
So they did, and the NYTIMES puts a political spin on it of course…

Summary:The VA is bad because evilhitlerbushy hates the troops and it’s just one more example of his “failed Battle Policy in Iraq and Afghanistan”.

Hmmm…silly me. I thought Afghanistan was under NATO and going on quite well, and the successes in Somalia, the Philippines and Indonesia by their governments who have the help of US and Aussie Special Forces is also part of Bush’s watch.

However, the VA system has been a mess since I was in Medical School–and that was almost 40 years ago. The wait is “normal”.

As for the wait in disability, that sounds normal.

The pencil pushers I mean, I retired three years ago from a civil service job and am still waiting for the government to find my 1980 service that makes me eligible for a pension.

Even in the private sector, disability waits are the norm, if for no other reason that many of the disabled are partly disabled and get better in the meanwhile.

However, no mention that thanks to Bush funded commission that decided Gulf war syndrome more disability claims will have to be processed…some estimate 100 000 veterans suffer from that problem.

One of these days, they will figure the slowness is mainly the system…And if you think the VA is slow, wait till Hillary nationalizes all health care.
