Cecil Suwal and Mark Brener are the masterminds behind the global escort service, Emperors Club VIP, that is linked to New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
The 23-year-old elite, prep school graduate and the 62-year-old widower are the May-December couple who are accused of running the successful prostitution ring.
Neighbors were always wary of the mismatched couple who ran their business from a Manhattan high-rise apartment overlooking the skyline.
Their business drew minimal attention five days ago when they were arrested, but sparked a frenzy in light of the discovery of Spitzer being a high paying client.
“Suwal and Brener are among four others charged with conspiracy to violate federal prostitution laws and to launder more than $1 million in illicit proceeds.â€
“Temeka Rachelle Lewis, 32, of Brooklyn, and Tanya Hollander, 36, of Rhinebeck, N.Y., were also charged with conspiracy to violate federal prostitution laws.â€
Two Israeli passports belonging to Brener and $600,000 were confiscated during the raid of Suwal and Brener’s apartment last week, according to the Star Ledger of Newark, NJ.
Brener was a financial consultant, who had lived in Queens and briefly South Brunswick with his wife, who died in 1997.
Suwal, the “23-year-old girl scared out of her mind,†attended the Blair Academy in Warren County, a prestigious boarding school in northwest New Jersey, according to the Star-Ledger.
“As this case continues to spiral,” Parker said, “I would imagine everybody who the government says is associated with it is probably going to be more worried.”
