Country Joe McDonald is no newcomer to the music scene. Following the demise of Country Joe And The Fish he did temporarily fall off the music radar, however in 2004 he re-emerged with The Country Joe Band. Turned Up And Turned On is a concert filmed in the UK in 2004. This aging hippie has lost none of his charm from the Woodstock era. What surprised me was how good his voice still is, in fact how good he looks, it is hard to believe that Country Joe is in his mid 60’s. The band consists of Country Joe (Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica), David Bennett Cohen (Keyboards, Guitar), Bruce Barthol (Bass, Harmonica, Vocals), and Chicken Hirsh (Drums).

With a running time of 135 minutes you get a real feel for Country Joe’s depth and repertoire. The set includes the eternal favorite ‘Summer Of Love’, ‘Section 43’, ‘Oh Jamaica’, and ‘Flying High’. If you are a Country Joe McDonald fan this is a concert that you will want in your collection. You can pick up a copy of Turned Up And Turned On from MVD.
