Some movies are not designed to have sequels.  Some are and never get them because the first one was so terrible.  Others are and they get them, thankfully for those of us who are fans.  Then there are movies that aren’t made for sequels, but the characters are so wonderfully enjoyable that you cannot help but make another movie featuring them.  That’s the case for this movie and now you can see exactly what I’m talking about in a brand new format.

Starting this May 12th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Studios Home Entertainment comes the sequel to the rock and roll slacker comedy produced by Lorne Michaels.  Wayne’s World 2 – Blu-ray Disc is ready to blast right out of your television screen and fill your world with high definition cameos, rock and roll, love, danger and overwhelming amounts of humor.  Bring home this great early 90s comedy today!

Wayne and Garth have returned in this sequel to the original.  They are one year older and share a loft, but are struggling where to move towards in their lives after reaching the heights of fame through their television show.  Wayne has a dream featuring Jim Morrison and his naked Indian friend saying that Wayne should have a big music festival and call it Waynestock.  People will show up and the bands will show up.  Then the personal lives of both Wayne and Garth fall apart and things aren’t looking good for Waynestock either.  How will this movie possibly end?  This movie stars Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Christopher Walken, Tia Carrere, Ralph Brown, Jay Leno, Charlton Heston, Chris Farley, Kim Basinger, Heather Locklear, Tim Meadows and Aerosmith and was produced by Lorne Michaels.

The special features included in this Blu-ray Disc are an optional audio commentary from director Stephen Surjik and a great deal of exclusive cast and crew interviews from the film.  For how much of a cult status this movie and the first one have achieved, it is a little strange that no additional special features are available, but it’s certainly worth it to get even this small amount of bonus materials.

I like this movie more than I like the first one.  It’s hilarious to see all of the cameos, although some of them took a while to recognize since it’s been 16 years since this movie was first released.  I love the multiple endings and think that’s both a hilarious nod to other movies, references I’m sure everyone will notice, and it’s also a sly wink towards the meta-tendencies of movies and pop culture as a whole.  Plus it’s really funny, so you certainly don’t have to be too cerebral about this whole thing.  Wayne and Garth are, quite simply, wholly enjoyable characters and people you would definitely not mind spending some extra time with.  All of the sequences that feature Jim Morrison and his naked Indian friend are some of my favorite parts of comedy from that entire decade.  It was great when it first came out and this movie is just as magnificent now, even more so since it’s finally in high definition.

Your World is going to get rocked – again!
