I applied for a promotion not too long ago.  It was the first time I had ever gone for such a large step up inside of an organization and it was brutal.  I interviewed for an hour and a half and it was like being run through the ringer.  I was wiped out for the rest of the week.  I ended up not getting the promotion, but there were all sorts of things outside of my control.  But for the week and a half when I was in the midsts of that process, stuff got crazy.  For that reason, this new comedy struck a chord with me and I guarantee that you’ll love it too.

Starting this September 2nd, now available on DVD from Dimension Home Entertainment and Genius Products, LLC comes the darkly hilarious story of what it takes to move up in life and at work.  The Promotion is ready to works it’s way into your living room and teach you how to manage whole cases of laughter.  Bring home this outrageously wonderful film today!

Seann William Scott plays Doug, a man who has made a career out of being the assistant manager at the local Donaldson’s supermarket and is married to a nurse (played by the immaculately talented and stunningly beautiful Jenna Fisher).  A new store is opening up in his neighborhood and Doug is the shoe-in for the manager’s spot.  Then Richard, played by John C. Reilly and his wife played by Lili Taylor, transfers from up in Canada to the same store in Chicago and also applies for the new manager position.  The competition heats up, with Richard having problems with a language barrier and retarded baggers and Doug lying to his wife, struggling with being seen as racist and The Tater-Tots Incident.  This promotion takes them to the limits of themselves.

The special features included in this DVD are a selection of deleted scenes which were not included in the theatrical version, an optional audio commentary with writer/director Steven Conrad and producers Jessica Goyer and Steven Jones, outtakes from the making of the film, webisodes for the movie and a featurette about the making of the film.

I never thought I would see Seann William Scott be funnier than John C. Reilly, but it more than happens in this movie.  He makes this film what it is.  This is the best acting Scott has ever done.  Fred Armisen is delightful as the manager and I completely fall in love with Jenna Fischer every time I ever see her.  That’s my American dream.  One of the funniest parts in this film is when Scott explains how he knows who threw the YooHoo at him.  Also, the one line which left me and roommate laughing for minutes and actually falling off the sofa laughing was “This is me enjoying a rainbow cone in celebration of Richard’s racial slur.”   That’s priceless stuff.  This movie is stunningly hilarious, deliciously dark, and the hidden comedy masterpiece of the year.

This Promotion will take you places you’ll love.
