Rockaberry Roll

I have red hair and it’s natural.  Because of that, I am a part of a rare and dignified fraternity of people.  I am honor bound to support all others with red hair because we all belong to the same club.  Instances include Nicole Kidman (certainly no chore on my part), David Caruso (painful), and The Little Mermaid (it becomes more painful with age).  Now there is a new DVD out which provides me with another fictitious redhead I must talk up the best of my ability.

Starting this August 12th, now available on DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and The Wonderful World Of Dic comes the latest adventures of one of the sweetest and most colorful girls around.  Strawberry Shortcake – Rockaberry Roll is ready to jam into your living room and transport you to a world of music, teamwork and loads of fun.  Bring home this timeless tale of friendship today!

Strawberry Shortcake and all her friends are back in an all-new musical adventure.  It’s time for the Strawberry Talent Show and Strawberry and all her friends have decided to start a band to compete in it.  They call themselves Strawberry Jam, but they don’t work together as a team and so they fail to make the cut to compete.  The girls are forced to learn the value of teamwork.  And when Peppermint Fizz tries to join the group, but her trumpet playing skills are atrocious, Strawberry and the rest of the girls teach her about the importance of practice.

The special features included in this DVD are a music video for the song “Strawberry Jam,” a character gallery memory book, many fun and exciting printable coloring pages and an exciting DVD jacket.

I was impressed by this DVD.  The animation is cute, almost painfully so and the story is interesting.  There are some good lessons taught in this show about teamwork and friendship and how important it is to keep trying.  The music isn’t anything I would ever listen to, but for a child who is beginning to be interested in such things, this is a good introduction.  Not too long ago, I reviewed the latest Bratz release and found it severely lacking.  This DVD provides a wonderful and fulfilling alternative to such reprehensible children’s programming.

Let the good times Roll with this wonderful DVD!
