Return from Witch Mountain Special Edition

The threat of nuclear destruction doesn’t scare me, because it simply doesn’t feel real to me.  I don’t remember the Cold War and all the nuclear rhetoric of that time was never present in my life.  Reading Watchmen, I don’t understand all the nuclear fear.  I keep an Atari 2600 cartridge on Missile Command on my bookshelf, but mainly to pay homage to a great gaming system.  The point is, I like it when nuclear destruction is part of the plot of a film, I just don’t understand it.  But now there’s a movie out which hinges on that idea and it’s ready on DVD right now.

Starting this March 10th, now available on DVD from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment comes the continuing story about two siblings with extraordinary powers.  Return From Witch Mountain is ready to blast out of your television screen and bring a whole world of magic and fun into your living room.  Bring home this classic family film today!

Tony and Tia are back in this incredible sequel.  Since spending time at Witch Mountain, the two of them have learned how to focus their abilities and now they feel it is time for a well-deserved vacation.  Uncle Bene drops them off in Los Angeles, but Tony and Tia quickly become separated.  Then Tony uses his powers and is noticed by the evil Letha Wedge and Dr. Victor Gannon, who kidnap him and use mind control to harness his powers.  They seek to exploit and eventually LA unless Tia and her new friends, the Earthquake Gang, a group of streetwise truants, are able to rescue Tony.  This movie stars Bette Davis, Christopher Lee, Kim Richards and Lee Eisenmann.

The special features included in this DVD are all new trivia track with pop up facts during the film, a look at the making of this film, a featurette about getting these actors back together again, several looks into the special features used for the film, a lost interview with Christopher Lee, a featurette about the studio album they made for this film and an optional audio commentary.

I thought this was a fantastic sequel.  The Earthquake Gang and Yo-Yo are hilarious and make a great addition to the plot.  Of course, with the evil parts being held down by Bette Davis and the inimitable Christopher Lee, how this movie not excel?  It’s a great story and it is nice to see Tony and Tia back in action.  This makes an excellent follow-up to the original movie and a welcome addition to the film library of any family.

The good times Return with the re-release of this great movie!
