Major League [Blu-ray]

I love baseball.  I’ve been a Minnesota Twins fan for as long as I can remember and I’ve been to a large amount of their home games.  I like watching my team and I especially like seeing them win when they are portrayed as the underdogs, which is just about all of the time.  But there’s a baseball movie I like as well that’s about the ultimate baseball underdogs and the team in the movie is doing just about as terribly in the real pennant race this season.  Now you can watch that same movie and see it in a brand new format!

Starting this May 12th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Studios Home Entertainment comes this hilarious and endearing comedy about baseball’s misfits and their struggle to find meaning.  Major League – Wild Thing Edition – Blu-ray Disc is ready to come speeding right out of your television screen and tag you out with a whole pile of high definition fun and hilarity.  Bring home this hilarious 80s comedy about the great American pastime.

A beautiful former Vegas showgirl inherits the Cleveland Indians and sets out to ruin their season so she can move the team to sunny Florida.  She hires all of the baseball misfits she can find, washed up players, evangelicals, voodoo worshipers, nearsighted pitchers, prima donnas, womanizers and guys who just can’t hit.  The problem is, they are bonding as a team and keep playing better all of the time.  Their sights become set on the playoffs and now she needs to do everything she can to derail their ambitions.  But will they be able to pull it off?  This movie stars Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen, Rene Russo, Wesley Snipes, Chelcie Ross, Dennis Haysbert and Bob Uecker.

The special features included in this Wild Thing Edition are an optional audio commentary from writer and director David Ward and producer Chris Chesser, a look at this fictional Indians, Major League perspectives on this movie, a hilarious look at Bob Uecker, an interesting alternate ending with optional director introduction, a look inside of Cerrano’s locker and a photo gallery.

I have always thought this was a fantastic movie.  I love Wild Thing and Willie Mays Hays is one of the best baseball characters of all time.  One of the funniest parts about this movie is that it’s about the Cleveland Indians.  At the time of the movie, they were one of the worst teams in baseball, but in the last few years, they have risen to new heights of accomplishment.  But this season, as I’m a fan living in the AL Central and I have to know about this, they are playing absolutely abysmally.  So it has become true once again, just in time for the high definition release of this movie.  That fact alone makes it worth getting this movie, so go ahead and do so and celebrate just how bad the Indians are for the second time.

You’re in for Major fun with this great movie!
