Making one good horror movie isn’t particularly difficult.  Take a great premise, some neat ideas and a group of wonderfully innovative ways to kill people and you have something that will stand out from the crowd.  Often when this is done, there is the compulsion to create a sequel, to take advantage of a superior story and try and see if lightening can strike twice.  Slasher movies attracted that attention back in the early eighties and one of them stood above the crowd.  Now this movie is ready to come into your house in a brand new format!

Starting this June 16th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Studios Home Entertainment comes the sequel that took a great slasher film and made it into one of the most influential and widespread series of horror movies that went on to define a whole generation.  Friday The 13th – Part 2 – Blu-ray Disc is ready to carve right through your television screen and bring a world of claustrophobic horror and probably the craziest and sickest Oedipal complex ever right into your living room.  Bring home this great horror flick in high definition today!

Years after the original killings at Camp Blood, another camp across the lake has decided to open up.  Of course, they have chosen to staff this camp with a bunch of gorgeous, young co-eds.  And some of those hot, young, stupid camp staffers spent their time digging around Camp Blood, which of course enrages none other than Jason.  Killings ensue in varied and greatly gruesome manners.  Will anyone be left alive this time?  This movie stars Amy Steel, John Furey, Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer, Stu Charno and Steve Dash and was directed by Steve Miner.

The special features included in this Blu-ray Disc are some lost tales from Camp Blood, a look back at the making of this movie, a great featurette about the horror conventions that were spawned from this series of film, a look at Jason himself and the original theatrical trailer.

This movie was a pretty good sequel.  The first movie was fantastic because the thrill of not seeing the killer and then the couple of great twists at the end really put it over the top.  This movie built on that tension rather successfully and was delightful because of that.  I worked at a summer camp much like the one in this movie, except a lot more fundamentalist and there wasn’t a psycho out trying to kill me.  So because of that, this series of movies has always been enjoyable for me.  Not to mention, this movie is great in high definition and is totally worth watching just to see that.  The creepy alter with the dead head on it is magnificent and we first see the signature move of either coming or leaving through a window.  How great is that?  Answer – very great.

This is one Friday you won’t forget!
