I think science fiction is one of the greatest things to ever be invented.  It’s about the future, it’s about technology, it’s exciting, there are lots of facts, it’s nerdy, people who wear glasses and are smart are all of a sudden cool when it comes to science fiction.  Lately, there has been a great trend away from the world of sci-fi.  It’s tragic to see that because it’s about a world of possibilities and big ideas and consequences of things we take for granted.  Nonetheless, there is still a big draw that space has on our minds and here’s a movie that demonstrates that on a whole new format.

Starting this February 3rd, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Disney Blu-ray and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment comes the next chapter in lives of those precocious puppies with their endearing stereotypical behaviors.  Space Buddies – Blu-ray Disc is ready to explode out of your television screen with their roly-poly antics and cuddly selves.  Bring home this cute and simply film today!

Rosebud, Buddha, Budderball, B-Dawg, and Mudbud are five puppies set on living their lives.  They have a dream about going to the moon and so off they go!  Once they get there, they realize that what they really want to be a part of is back on Earth, so it’s a tough trip they have to take.  Even with two new friends, Spudnick and Gravity, will the Buddies be able to get back safely?  This film stars the vocal talents of Amy Sedaris, Molly Shannon, Henry Hodges, Field Cate, Skyler Gisondo and Kevin Weisman.

The special features included in this Blu-ray are a list of facts about each Buddy, a hilarious bunch of bloopers, a new music video from Alyson Stoner, a Buddies guide to space travel and a Buddy finder game.

This movie is very cute and those puppies are simply adorable, no doubt about it.  So far as I can tell through my research, this movie was not scarred by the same types of animal cruelty which have marred previous titles in this series.  It is a very simple yet exciting film which kids really will enjoy.  It isn’t too scary and there isn’t anything which parents should find objectionable for their children to enjoy seeing.  I didn’t like it, but I prefer children’s material to be more intellectual and actually achieve something.  However, as far as cute and somewhat mindless goes, this film does it very well.

I’d give these dogs some Space.

This Blu-ray Disc is available at Amazon.com.
