New York based author, Kiran Desai has won the prestigious Man Booker Prize award for her novel, ‘The Inheritance of Loss’. The daughter of the well known Indan Author Anita Desai, Kiran recollected how his parents were against her taking up a writer’s career.


She is the third writer of Indian origin, after Salman Rushdie and Arundhati Roy, to win the Man Booker Prize. Her fellow New York city resident and well-known author himself, Shashi Tharoor, says that it is a shot in the arm for all Indian writers.
