The Playstation 3 Mania has hit frenzied pitch folks.  The long lines.  The media hype-o-rama.  Now the muggings.  Yes, the muggings. And shootings.

In Putnam, Conn two men in masks robbed the crowd waiting in line for their precious Playstation III.  One console fan resisted and was shot as a result.  The bandits fled and authorities are in pursuit with a Need for Speed.  I guess it’s Grand Theft Console? ok, bad pun.  The video victim is in the hospital in serious condition.

Short supplies and shorter tempers are the result of this grand release of gaming mania.

In Palmdale, Calif., authorities shut down a Super Wal-Mart after some shoppers got rowdy late Wednesday. In West Bend, Wis., a 19-year-old man was injured when he ran into a pole racing with 50 others for one of 10 spots outside a Wal-Mart.

In Lexington, Ky., police were investigating a drive-by shooting that hit four people with BB pellets outside a Best Buy store, causing minor injuries, according to WKYT, whose own reporter was hit as she interviewed buyers in line.

A Best Buy in Boston, aware it had only 140 of the consoles, got smart _ its employees gave out tickets to the first 140 people in line so everyone could go home.

Me?  I’m going to get mine off eBay for an exorbitant price! Beats getting shot!

Yup, it’s a bit insane when you’re a target in a video game while trying to get the video game.  Maybe some game company will make a game about getting the hardware.

KillStation 3 … coming soon to a Wally World near you!
