There is nothing glorious about death, particularly when the person is only 18 years old.

I know little about Kevin Abrams, I did not even know his name until this morning. But, I knew Kevin, I have seen him many times.

This short and rather ambiguous news story comes from

Hancock County Sheriff Steve Garber just confirmed a fatal shooting happened Tuesday morning in Diamondhead’s Holiday Village at 9743 Limu Way.
According to Sheriff Garber, 20-year-old Tyler Clemmons of Slidell was shot in the shoulder and is being treated. The 18-year-old shooter, Kevin Abrams, however died from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.

Officials said the incident sparked a week ago in Picayune. Investigaors say Abrams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after beating his 18-year-old girlfriend.

After the beating, the girlfriend reportedly came to her mother’s house in Diamondhead.
Deputies said Abrams left a suicide note telling his family he loves them.

Investigators are on scene at this time.

It is short, and it is curious. Of great interest is the phrase ‘an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound’.

Depending on who you talk to, this is where the story starts to become very curious. At least one report says that the gun used was a shotgun, obviously Tyler Clemmons is a very lucky man to have merely suffered an injury to the shoulder. Apparently immediately after this  Kevin Abrams turned the gun on himself. Possible, but is it probable?

One person that I spoke to seems convinced that the blast hit him in the back of the head. Kevin did not look like cirq-de-soleil material. And shooting yourself in the back of the head with a shotgun would take some serious dexterity.

This though is the mere tip of the iceberg. The bigger question is will this case be investigated, or is it already just a statistic?

No-one cares about Kevin Abrams, just another punk off the street, right?

Well someone cares, it may not be much, but here is the house he lived in.

And here is a closeup of the front door.

Flowers on the door, some black balloons, and some remnants of candles. What a sad way for any person to end. I did not know the kid, but he came across as being an arrogant wanna be gang banger. One has to wonder, had someone extended the hand of friendship could he have changed?

We will never know.
