Rescue Riders is comprised of volunteers that will be trained by The Kane County Medical Reserve Corps. to handle emergency responses.  They will be trained in CPR and first aid, and they will help transport supplies and other volunteers during natural disasters and terrorst attacks.  Their method of transportation will be motorcycles.  It’s believed to be the first of its kind in the U.S. and it spawned because of bikers who attempted to help after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.  Firemen and policemen in New York turned most of the volunteers away because they weren’t credentialed.  The volunteers of Rescue Riders will be credentialed.  The inaugural training session is underway.  The training session hopes to expand in the future, but it begins by training 14 volunteers.  Applications are available on the Health Department’s website under
