There are 287 victims of the earthquake verified so far, only  1 not identified still, and today the solemn funerals will be held for around 150 of them.

On the website of the Italian Civil Protection, a provisional list of victims has been made public .

Meanwhile, there were more aftershocks in L’Aquila.  At 21:38 last night, there was a strong shake of magnitude 4.9, with epicenter  to the north of L’ Aquila.

The number of evacuees climbed up to 27 thousand, of which 19 thousand are  in the camps and 10 thousand in hotels on the coast of Abruzzo. Yesterday,  the earthquake survivors received the visit of the head of state, Giorgio Napolitano, and the Council of Ministers also passed a series of measures in their favor.

Solemn Funeral
Premier Silvio Berlusconi and the presidents of the Chambers Renato Schifani and Gianfranco Fini will be present today, in Abruzzo, at the funeral of victims of the earthquake. The solemn funeral was decided  with a resolution of national mourning by the Council of Ministers. The funeral rite will be jointly performed by the Secretary of State Vatican, mons. Tarcisio Bertone, and by the archbishop of metropolitan L’ Aquila, mons. Joseph. Pope Benedict XVI will visit the earthquake zone just after Easter.

Faced with the spectacle of  recently constructed buildings having  been destroyed by the earthquake — causing many victims, Giorgio Napolitano visiting the places of the disaster yesterday, said: “There must be an examination of conscience without discriminating it with ‘political colorings’ on who has had responsibility. No one in these cases should close their eyes. ”

The Italian government also announced 100 million euro will be available to Civil defense for immediate needs of survivors and  was to be spent on accommodations for displaced families.   A  maximum of 400 euros per month will be given to survivors, with an additional amount of  100 euro for persons aged  more than 65 years or disabled.
