Two more food processing companies have been raided by ICE (Immmigration and Customs Enforcement) in the past week. At least some of the illegal immigrants detained were found to be using stolen identities.
In North Carolina, 25 of the illegal immigrants were using the identities of U.S. citizens.
From the ICE press release:
United States Attorney George E. B. Holding announced today that his office has obtained criminal complaints charging 25 individuals with identity theft and various immigration violations. These individuals were arrested on Aug. 22, 2007, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents as part of an investigation that focused on individuals who were working at the Smithfield Processing plant in Tar Heel, N.C., and who had, as part of the commission of other crimes, transferred, possessed or used the identification of someone else in violation of federal law. The United States Attorney will ask the federal grand jury to consider these cases in the near future.
Meanwhile, in Ohio raids were conducted on Koch Foods and 160 illegal immigrants were detained. While this was going on a search warrant was executed at their corporate office in Chicago.
From the ICE press release:
Special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) today executed criminal search warrants at Koch Foods in Fairfield, Ohio. ICE identified more than 180 Koch employees working at the Fairfield plant requiring further questioning and administratively arrested more than 160 as of 4PM for immigration violations. ICE agents simultaneously executed criminal search warrants at Koch’s corporate office in Chicago.
There is no disclosure as to whether any of these people were using other people’s identities.
In both press releases, ICE outlined the reasons for the raids:
Unlawful employment is one of the key magnets drawing illegal aliens across our borders,” said Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for ICE. “When illegal aliens use fraudulent documents or engage in identity theft, they not only exploit a vulnerability, they also cause real harm to U.S. citizens. We will pursue egregious violators by seeking criminal charges and continue to deploy tools such as the new social security no match guidelines to help businesses comply with the law.”
Besides unlawful employment, there is a flourishing trade in counterfeit documents that enables a lot of illegal immigrants to obtain employment.
Suad Leija’s Paper Weapons site is a place, where you can get an inside look at how bad this problem is. It also shows how other crimes, besides illegal immigration are tied into the trade.
Suad is currently writing a book, which will go into a lot of detail about the trade in paper weapons.

Let’s see, crime is high, police understaffed, and yet the best that can be done to stop the drug and crime problem is arrest a bunch of people earning their pay. WOW, that’s the way!!! We should be crime free in hurry at that rate. I mean using 300 or so officers not to mention the clerical workers to process all the info. Yeap, I feel like I’m going to sleep more safely tonight. True, these people are breaking the law; it’s unfortunate that there are laws preventing people from earning incomes because they are not privileged. Live and let live. Do you really think GOD meant with the 10 Commandments; to keep people from earning a living? Yes, you could argue they take jobs of American citizens, of course, I guess you mean the teenagers that won’t cut my grass unless I pay them $50. Or, maybe it’s the American that won’t work because they can’t get $25 an hour or more. Unemployment rates are at historical lows in this country, I don’t think any reasonable person that truly wants a job would have a problem. Let’s get real, solve real issues first, real crime, poverty, education, drugs and then when all that is left are people trying to make a living, let’s hope we have the courage to allow someone the ability to provide for them selves and family.
I’ve been reading many reports lately how the illegals are worried about their families and such, now that ICE and people are stepping up and taking action. I find it hypocritical of these illegals complaining. You (illegals) came to our country illegally, some of you (illegals) created your own families in our country. You (illegals) are freeloading on our social and health care services, creating a severe budget crunch that us tax payers have to pay for. You (illegals) quit complaining since you are here illegally in the first place. Come to America legally and you’ll be in a much better postion to succeed. As a legal citizen, you will feel better about yourself too.
I’m stoked! I was sure the raids were over with the last time the Immigration Bill Jason’d and was then knocked back down.
These raids seemed to serve two purposes in the past. I’m not sure what to think is going on now.???
One, so the government can pretend to care about enforcement while they carny sell us on a new comprehensive immigration bill.
Two, seems to be to help establish sanctuary cities.
This is what has happened over and over in regards to the immigration raids in California.
1. ICE will hold small raids.
2. The newspapers will start in with the poor illegal aliens being to scared to take their children to school.
3. Public meeting for the illegal aliens will be organized. In cities around the San Francisco Bay Area the police were involved coaching the illegal aliens how to circumvent the law. Many of the meetings were held in Spanish.
4. The honest people got upset and formed their own groups. Many visited their city councils. This is the link to one of the news stories of the aftermath.

5. There will be proposals of making the city a sanctuary for illegals!
I’m sorry if I have offended any of you and I do wish you all the best with upcoming events.
P.S. Many in the police departments here are glad to see us stand up to what has been happening to our nation. I’m sure they will be where you are to.
Many honest people are forming groups in their cities and visiting their local city council meetings.
1 Find a place for a meeting. Libraries or coffee shops are good.
2 Let your local news in on what you are trying to do. Patriots or Minutemen are good key words that will let others know what your group is about.
3 Hold a meeting. Get a small group of people elected to help keep things organized and your group functioning.
4 Visit your local city council or other public meetings and let them know how you feel.
Rallies are a good way to let people in your area know what your group is about. Let the police know when you have a rally planned. To keep your group going it can be helpful to have a flyer ready to let people know of your next meeting or rally.
P.S. Work on building up your contact list.
If America’s LEGAL citizens have forgotten masses of illegals marching for THEIR RIGHTS in May 2006, LOOK UP THE PICTURES ON THE NET AND REMIND YOURSELF WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE AND HOW MUCH DAMAGE TO OUR ECONOMY THEY HAVE DONE.
AND DON’T FORGET ALL THE LEGAL AMERICANS KILLED BY DRUNKEN ILLEGALS DRIVING WITH NO LICENSE.
