In my theory I believed Tommy had the opportunity to unlock the backdoor while he was there earlier in the day. He came back after Ron called him asking if Misty was with him. He entered the MH to rob thinking Misty had left. When he turned on the light Haleigh thought it was her dad and went in the kitchen. Tommy and possibly joe paniced and held a hand over her mouth she has an asthma attack and dies. They panic and Misty wakes up and Tommy and possibly joe get rid of the body.
I think Misty has been covering for Tommy and her involvement and if not Tommy will tell about the drug dealing. She cant go to jail she is an addict it would be he77 to go through withdrawl. jmo This was my original theory except for the withdrawl IT IS ONLY A THEORY SO DONT GET MAD.

Oh, not mad here. Everyone is entitled. Do you think Tommy or Misty talked finally and they are bringing him back to face more charges?

Actually Tobias, I agree that you have a plausible theory. I have always wondered why it so long for Tommy to tell LE that he was there that night. Protecting his sister? Could be, but I think he was protecting himself. He had opportunity and reason (robbery) to be there that night. I, too, think he may have accidently killed Haleigh trying to quiet her.
I also agree that a body will more than likely not be recovered.

Oh Tobias, I hope your not right. i she’s dead, I pray that her remains can be properly buried, and a funeral can happen to give closure to her family….and us. We are Haleighs other family. Sometimes I truly feel as though she is one of my own.

Treece, He put her at risk by involving her and Junior with a known drug addict. He thought he could do criminal activity and it would never come home to his kids. I do not hate anyone I just do not feel sorry for him, I will save that for the ones that got hurt by his stupidity. jmo

For me… I don’t think Tommy caused the disappearance. I think that perhaps he was drafted in after the fact, and he just may be the “fall guy”. I am still convinced that DB was on the scene sometime before Feb. I don’t buy “they” M & D just hit if off.

cent, at the time DB showed up I believe Misty was feeling the pressure of failing the lie detector again and Ron would be questioning her story more. DB acted like a person who would believe her and stand in her corner ( but for her own reasons a book deal or something that would benefit DB).She got in Mistys corner and took the focus off of her. jmo

tobias…we agree on little, but I must say your theory is not a whole lot different from what I think is the most likely scenario, though I still think there are many possibilities. I think the “most likely” scenario involves Tommy and cousin Joe coming in when Misty was sleeping and/or out of the house. I think there’s a chance Misty went out for a short while, Tommy & Joe knew it, and took advantage…that would explain why she is too scared to tell the whole truth. But, I also still think there’s a good chance it was an SO who may have been watching Haleigh and the house before hand and known Ron went to work at night.

Soooooooo, Tommy and cousin Joe know Misty has gone out for the evening and the kids are in bed asleep, they come in the door Tommy unlocked earlier in the day and prop it open so they can steal whatever they can lay their hands on and Haleigh wakes with leg cramps (remember Misty saying she often did?) Haleigh goes to look for Misty to rub her legs and surprises the two ah men (I am too ladylike to call them what they really are) and finds Tommy and Joe making out the door with the tv, whatever, and they shut her up……then Misty comes home and gasps in horror but blood being thicker than water and Tommy knowing about her dealing ways and the fact that she was gone she has no choice but to go along with hiding the body so they put it in the van whicu Tommy has conveniently borrowed wrapped in her own blanket that smells like pee because the poor child has expired and they take her to Shell Pond. They get back and put the stolen stuff back in the house and stage a break in and voila Ron comes home just as they are finishing things up, and the bouncing couch Jr heard was probably someone attempting CPR to revive Haleigh only those three bozos know nothing about CPR except what they have seen on tv.

m2c, Misty was a child who had a lot of problems including drugs and or alcohol.
Ron was an adult with two young children and is responsible for their well being. Inviting someone like Misty into his life and leaving his children with her was his bad choice and very irresponsible. A couple who has been married for many years and one becomes an alcoholic after the fact is not the same as Ron’s situation. To compare the two is ridiculous. Ron had a duty to protect his children and bringing someone like Misty into their life was his choice, not circumstance of life that just happened as your example of Married people divorcing because one becomes an alcoholic or drug addict.. Either way, it is irresponsible to leave a child with someone whose judgement is impaired. Look at Diane Schuler who killed 7 and herself…

Wonder why the sudden urgency to move Ron back to Putnam Co.? Well at least Teresa N. won’t have to drive so far to see him. I feel sorry for her and gg Sykes. I bet they are just lost without Jr. Poor Jr. his entire life has been turned around. He lost HaLeigh, his dad, his grandma Neves, his gg Sykes, the rest of Ron’s family and he gets up-rooted from his home, his preschool, everything he knows. On 21 January 2010, while continuing the investigation of the residential burglary at 120 Tyler Street in Satsuma I
learned from Lindsy Croslin that she had located items at her residence that did not belong to anyone at the
household and she believed her husband, Hank Croslin Jr, had stolen the items and kept them at their
residence. The items she recognized as not belonging to anyone in the residence was the items listed above as
well as several DVD movies and (4) Gameboy games. Lindsy had already gathered the items and had them
awaiting law enforcement for recovery.
I retrieved the items from the Croslin residence and shed in hopes of identifying where the items had been taken
from. Several neighbors on Tyler Street indicated to myself that Hank Croslin Jr, aka Tommy, was often seen
walking up and down the roadways late at night so they believed any other items that were recovered would be
from the immediate area. As a result of further investigative endeavors I discovered the residence at 111 Tyler
St had its rear screened porch door cut open as well as a rear window pried open and also a broken locking
mechanism from an exterior shed. The residence owner(s), Karen J. Paulsen, was ultimately contacted and
confirmed that the residence had indeed been burglarized

I think this is good advice but some seem to blame Ron no matter what happened to her. It is his fault, he had a teen babysitter, he went to work, he bla bla bla

I think at this point I agree with methinks. I believe they maybe trying to get everyone to roll on one another. I believe if cousin Joe gets arrested and extradicted to Fl then we can clearly see the end. All I know is there is more than one person involved in this horrible crime. LE could of already knew about the crime next door like methinks said. I do believe though it is a start. I am not going to convict anyone just yet. The jury is still out. I believe there will be a dominoe effect.
I will agree though that Ron is not a victim here only his children and other family members. The poor choices he has made due to his selfishness and immaturity has left major ruins. Haleigh is the most victimized of all. I just do not want to give up hope . My heart is starting to break at what appears to a very sad ending. God bless Haleigh and her families. I am praying for Ron that he needs to grow up and leave drugs alone. I do pray he is not involved that would just send the grandmothers over the edge I believe.

Poor Ron, he married Misty after his daughter went missing under her watch, and failed polygraphs, then went out at all hours of the morning doing drug deals with Misty. I think this child has a half batting chance at being alive in some Perverts basement, shed out back in the woods, under a garage, etc etc. I think Tommy Croslin’s family needs to get honest. As far as I can see right now Misty is actually saying something the rest are just covering stuff up until it’s obvious they can’t then they move to save their own hiny. Lindsy reminds me of my sister straight as a whip and enabler out the ying yang. My brother had been charged in a drug thing. The Police bugged his home and took photo’s of bundles of money in his home. When it came to court she wrote a letter to the Judge saying he was paying her way through University with it and to please forgive him. tobias, I could not find where I saw it but I think it was Ggm Sykes who said it. But yes Jr’s age is a terrible time to go through so many changes and losses. At his age he feels all the loss but doesn’t have the reasoning to understand any of it. He not only has lost his sister but feels the changes in everyone in his life, but doesn’t understand why they have all changed, too. I agree it is horrible for him in so many ways.

Its odd that all these people are like spokes in a wheel with Misty being the hub. I noticed one thing Tommy is never there when Ron is when they are with the UC. Its Misty and someone else. It is weird. jmo

tobias, they would have printed the items as a routine investigation, to tie him to the robberies. It’s common sense. There is no “throwing Tommy under the bus” going on….Misty suspected him from the beginning and I am pretty certain he is the guy, and bet LE think the same.

One way or the other, I think he’s the guy who did something to Haleigh, and I sure hope LE are trying to do a deal with Lindsay. I remember when they called her into LE to explain why she hadn’t told them Tommy went to Misty/Ron’s place that night. I think she has been the “key” for a long time.

You all are forgetting some hard evidence. The little boy was an “eye witness” to the events of the night, yet everybody has passed it off as though it wasn’t important. Please tell me the police have NOT. I have taught school and worked with adults and little kids all my life. Children at that age don’t “lie” because they don’t put any value, or know attach any importance to lying. I have always said, if you want the truth ask a child….and the child said the couch was “bouncing…” come on folks…drugs, sex, boyfriends, the couch was “bouncing…” guy in black suit of somekind took his sissy. Why do people “run”…because they are guilty. Something happened, in that trailer, to that child that night. Doesn’t anyone get it yet. They are drug addicts and users and dealers. This is not a convent of nuns and monks here. tonight, they are all where they need to be, from the girl to the oldest. 15 year olds are murdering their mamas folks. Drugs, sex, dealing…this behavior leads to deaths. They all know what happened. Start with Misty.
She really might NOT know what happened to the child…I have personally seen people so stoned and or crashed from cocaine that they didn’t even know their own name…but she DOES know what SHE did and she won’t tell…Start with her. Then bring the rest in. Slam their fingers in the door cell. Haleigh was a precious child. Some of you intelligent criminal experts do what it takes go get the truth! Play it different…talk to the little boy again, hypnotize him…do something. Get the truth. They all know it. Get it. They are all guilty as hell.

2cents…the bouncing couch story is what Crystal alleges she was told soemtime later. LE would have had experts question Junior in a way which was not leading, and which could possibly be admissible in Court. The story that matters is what he told police. Crystal & co did LE no favors putting that out there as the defence may try to use it to their advantage one day, as being inconsistent with his first version, and consequently making him an unreliable witness. They should have left it to the pros, it’s worth nothing and could only hurt.

The probelm with this is why would Misty not tell the cops of her suspicions? I just don’t see anyone in their right mind being so shamed by a member of their family, that they couldn’t bring themselves to rat on anyone when it concerns a child.

But Misty is not in her right mind if she’s dealing and doing drugs.

None of them are.

I think Tommy knew Misty was ‘trashed’ that night and being the PERV that he is, he went in and took Haliegh. He turned on the light, cause he knows Haliegh was afraid of the dark. I think he took her out to the Van and did his sick perv thing. She died in that van. I think he then threw her in the dumpster (the ones the dogs noted a dead human scent in), then panicked, backed the van up (putting the scratch down the side of it), threw her back in the van, drove off through bushes (thus the bushes stuck in the headlights) and buried her somewhere. Came back, dropped off the van (in a different spot than where Misty left it that day after bringing the kids home from school).
I think Misty’s conscious is blocking this out….maybe Misty rode with him?….maybe she is scared of him, since he threatened her all the time and molested her? Maybe she is hoping the cops will figure this out on their own without her telling on him. That way he can’t blame her. I think it fits perfectly with everything we know.

At this point there is only ONE big difference in the two cases.

Ron was Haleigh’s custodial parent and he did not do right by her. I believe he loved his kids and I believe he is hurting over Haleigh, yet I believe he is 100% responsible for what happened to her.

There was a case in my area some months ago where two kids were murdered by their father. Parents were divorced and mother had custody but she left the babies (7 week old twins) with their father while she worked. She stated under oath that she knew he was an alcoholic and that he had beaten her severely when they were together, including while she was pregnant.

But she left her babies alone with him anyway.

She was in court sobbing uncontrollably. Everyone tried to comfort her. Everyone felt sympathy for her because her babies were gone.

I get nauseous every time I hear anything about that mother as the victim in what happened to those babies. I believe she loved her babies, but I will never see her as a victim. She divorced her creep of a husband to save herself from his abuse, then decides it’s OK to leave two newborns with him!?

That mother should have been charged with child endangerment for putting her kids in harm’s way by leaving them with a known alcoholic. I see her as responsible for their suffering and ultimate death, even though she was at work when it happened.

Ron is responsible for what happened to Haleigh even if he was not there when it happened. He left her in the care of a person he knew was a drug abuser. That is not OK.

I am going through the flager county court records and Tommy has an interesting history there…DVO against him from Lindsay (before they were married), some battery charges, contempt of court re the DVO, and Lindsay had to go after him for child support…this was all before they married.

And Lisa was done for public intoxication when Misty was just 10 years old, theft when she was 12….so sad.

Do we know where else they lived? These records are from about 2005.

Good Morning…I shut down last night but I do want to say this to BOTH of you.

When I do come on, I search for BOTH your posts on this blog. You BOTH contribute brilliant insights and I enjoy your writing. I have complimented you both in the past.

As far as Ron C goes, I honestly believe in his innocence in the disapearrance of Haleigh.
Is he a rotten father?? YES. Did his lifestyle bring all this on?? YES. Should he have custody of Jr?? NO. Should he associate himself with people his own age?? YES.
That being said, he is a father who makes poor choices, I will grant you that, but he had nothing to do with Haleigh’s disapearrance. NO parent should have to live the hell he has had to live thru this past year. So when I see people trashing him on this forum, it angers me. And others.
Until their is proof of something, I wish people would keep their sarcastic comments to themselves out of respect for us bloggers who believe in him. And from what I read, the FACT is he is not being investigated in her disaperrance. May he have learned something since?? Possibly.

Tobias, I really think that your theory that Tommy and cousin Joe entered thinking nobody was home is very possible… Do you remember early in the investigation about an argument between Ron and cousin Joe? something about a gun being stolen? Later Ron denied any fight, and a pistol was recovered in a ditch? Just wondering . This would would make your theory more plausible, don’t you think?

Karen, it does get old, but it really doesn’t matter what he does, it will be wrong. If he cries, some say he’s just faking. If he laughs, some say he’s too happy must not care about Haleigh. I have been traveling it for years, I hope and pray that Ron chooses to join me and millions of others. Theres plenty of room. It will be then, and only then, that he will receive sympathy from me.

All addicts receive sympathy or more like empathy from me. Not all addicts reach the road to recovery and not all that do reach that road are self righteous. Addiction is a horrible thing and usually increases in times of stress or grief. I hope this jail time gives RC time to reflect on his addiction and how he might work to overcome it. I 100% sympathize w/ him no matter if he ever recovers or not. I can not imagine the things I might do, should my precious daughter ever go missing. It’s mighty easy to sit back and judge and declare what you would or would not do in RC’s situation. But the REALITY is you never know what you will do until YOU are in that situation. A mile in my shoes, and all that.

I am back and I almost changed my nic but I refuse to do that,I will not be 2 faced in any way about Haleigh!I don’t like game’s!
I had to stay away for the past few day’s and was targeted for my feeling’s for the first time ever and only since I Started doubting the fact’s in this case!!

As of 4-28th,2010 I am as sober as a judge FOR 5 year’s ..prolly more sober than some judges i see….LoL I fought it,I laid on my couch with a fever of 104,even my dr. told me i’d go into a seizure and die,I could NOT do it alone….LoL HERE I AM!!!! But i had double pneumonia,
withdrawl’s from h*ll,I have had a pacemaker since i was 14 yrs.old,was killing myself and didn’t know it,don’t know if i even cared then really, and when my husband was murdered in 2003 I started taking 20 hydro 10’s a day,i weighed 87 lbs…40 year’s old and seller’s coming in my door were sent away,I left my seller’s owing them money so I couldn’t go back,I told them i was getting clean and if they came back i would have the cop’s lead them out!
So I just wanted you to know me i guess,b/c like you,I’ve been there and by now I know i trust you guy’s!!I am no different than anybody else…..just smarter than I’ve ever been and my Grandson brought me back to life,he didn’t deserve a strung out Granny!!

AMBER ALERT Issued 5 Year Old Haleigh Cummings Missing North of Orlando, FL in Putnam County

An AMBER ALERT has been issued for missing 5 year old Haleigh Cummings in Florida. Haleigh Cummings was last seen on Monday night, February 9, 2009 at approximately 10 pm when Misty Croslin, the girlfriend of Haleigh Cummings’ father put 5 year old Haleigh to bed. Haleigh Cummings is missing from a rural area of Florida about 70 miles north of Orlando in Hermus Cove in Satsuma in Putnam County.

***Missing February 10, 2009 – I don’t think all is being told on this story right now and I’m suspicious about what has been reported so far, either the father is hiding some information or the girlfriend knows what happened to Haleigh and isn’t saying at this moment?…(this could be at the request of the Police?)

I believe the Police know what happened to Haleigh by this time….at least by the 14th they knew.
I keep seeing a bathtub being involved somehow with this story (or water)…
The door being opened would account for someone either leaving it open so they could carry someone out without having to open it again but, they wouldn’t turn the light on if they were kidnapping someone.
I believe the father came home early before Misty was through ‘staging’ the scene and had to stick to her story.

I’m seeing the letters or initials ‘KDG, KDC, CDG’ involved somehow….(might refer to KFC?)

Friday the 13th is connected…… (this could be the Calendar date or means ‘Bad Luck’ now in the case).

I’ve seen several times to look in the small white car that has evidence or is involved connected to the girl.

Fight/argument on Sunday involving the father..

I still keep seeing a bathtub and this could explain the pink shirt being found in the clothes hamper since she was bathed at some point that night.

If I were the Police, I would check the drain pipes in the tub for clues.

The whole family is lying about the drug/alcohol issue, both sides are being coy about the truth but it’s about to comes out in the press soon….Shocking! (I don’t want to sound critical by saying this, but they stirred the ‘pot’ so to speak…by going public too much.

I would like to point out something about Geraldo confronting Ronald Cummings. Some people don’t “cotton” to jerks like Geraldo getting in someone’s face and trying to make a story for himself to get his mug on TV…..Right or wrong, Geraldo is not the Police…By calling Ronald a “snitch” or “Informant”, Geraldo palced everyone in the Cumming’s family lives in danger…..

This case belongs to the Police Dept. and NOT to pseudo reporters like Geraldo Rivera..who want to prey on grieving families…

Geraldo is going to play these ignorant people against each other so he can stir their emotions to attack each other…It’s obvious that the ex-wife has problems or she wouldn’t have lost her 2 children in the first place to Ronald…..

Ronald has anger issues and it’s obvious he’s one french fry short of a “happy meal”, but that doesn’t mean that Geraldo has the right to air their dirty laundry on TV and pit the two families against each other since it won’t help the case…….

A beautiful little girl is missing, that’s what everyone should be focused on, not creating a ‘Dukes of Hazard’ – meets – ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ reality show…

If it won’t get Haliegh back, then what’s the use to going in that direction with the story??

Also, the Police have the travel trailer bugged so they will get any inside information if there are lies stated by Ronald or Misty to each other…..

This is the police report from the night Haleigh was reported missing. Not only does it conflict with later statements.. made, but gives us insight into what Misty Croslin’s life is like, as well as what the two children might endure.

It seems Ronald Cummings has an anger problem and may be a bit controlling. That’s putting it mildly. It is certainly understand..able that Ronald Cummings had every reason to be upset and angry that night, but as this develops, I believe we will see domestic violence, drug abuse, low self-esteem, sexual abuse, and a host of other issues.I will be adding to this blog and expanding the scope of this initial post. The focus will mainly look at the dynamics of the family relationships rather than the day-to-day.. details of the search.
INFORMATION TAKEN FROM THE INCIDENT REPORT

Missing Persons Investigation

ADDITIONAL.. INFORMATION:

(transcribed from the incident report)

“I was dispatched.. to 202 Green Drive, in reference to this report of a missing 5 year old child. Due to the age of the child I responded to this location code 3, blue lights and sirens. D/S Bridges and I arrived on the scene at the same, 3:40. Upon our arrival I observed a white male standing in the driveway who was visibly upset. I made contact with the individual.. who identified.. himself as Ronald Cummings. Ronald told me that his daughter, Haleigh Cummings, age 5, was missing.

I asked Ronald what happened, and he told me that he just got from work, and his, ‘dumb (beotch) girlfriend..’ told him his daughter was missing. Ronald said that he did not know what Haleigh was wearing and that all he knew was the back door was standing open. Ronald repeatedly.. said that someone had taken his child and also said, ‘when I find him, I’ll kill him.’ Ron referred to a 9 mm Hand gun which he owned inside of his residence and said that if law enforcement found whoever had his child he would shoot them through the back window of the patrol car. I attempted to get information from Ronald regarding Haleigh however, due to his emotional state he was unable to provide any useful information.”

I have discovered.. that Ronald Cummings has a past history of drug use and criminal charges. Those charges include possession.. of cocaine and marijuana,.. in amounts that exceed personal use. He’s been charged with maintaining a drug vehicle and possession.. of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, he’s been charged with shooting a firearm at deer at night on 2 occasions,.. leaving scene of accident with injuries 2 occasions,.. and trespassing. There is also domestic violence listed on Crystal’s court history, but the perpetrator was not clear.

Of the drugs in Ronald Cummings possession.., GHB was listed. This, as most know, is the date rape drug. Ronald entered a plea of not guilty and was assigned a public defender as he was deemed indigent. He was also determined.. to be eligible for court intervention of a drug program which he declined. Although the charges could have brought Ron a maximum sentence of 5 years and/or ..$5K, he actually received a fine of ..$370. These charges were in 2005.
So far, I’ve found that Ronald Cummings has been fined, been under 24 hour house arrest, given community service, and court ordered drug testing, but he’s not served time in jail, that I could find.

There was a court hearing scheduled for February 10th at 8:30 regarding custodial issues, but no further information is available…
15 Feb 09:
We learned through Crystal and her mother, Marie, that Misty is a victim of sexual abuse. Misty admitted to Crystal of being sexually abused by a “first cousin when she was 13 years old.”Misty told Geraldo’s brother this also, in addition to stating this cousin visited not too long ago and was in their home. Misty told him the cousin stole a gun from Ronald while in the home.This unnamed cousin lives in TN and is a registered.. sex offender. Misty spoke with the Sheriff of Putnam County about her cousin following her disclosure…

Last night I had a dream that showed a Police car approaching a small white car with Misty inside. As the Police car got closer to her, the white car started going in reverse and Misty was shouting at someone a good distance away. At the same time I could see a circle forming around the neighborhood where Misty lived getting smaller as Misty retreated…..

While I saw this scene playing out, I saw something out the corner of my eye in a ditch on the side of the road. I could tell by the size it was a child wrapped in a blanket. I asked someone why they weren’t doing anything about this child being wrapped in a blanket and I was told they were waiting on a coroner….

The white car with Misty in it means the Police are closing in on her while she retreats and no one is listening to her now…

The body in the blanket means that Haleigh’s remains will be found soon.

Ronald Cummings and some family members will become violent once Haleigh’s remains are found…

I’ve seen on several occasions that someone else was at the Cummings home that night with Misty, even though she states that she didn’t leave the home, I haven’t heard anyone say that she was alone…

One reason that she wanted to marry Ronald was because she didn’t want him to know about her ‘affairs’ with other boys and was afraid of what he would do if he caught her playing around while he was at work….

The conflicting stories over whether a cousin was in their home the night Haleigh went missing will soon come to light with negative consequences for Misty…
***Update Sept 22, 2009 Headlines: ‘New Details in Haleigh Cummings Investigation’ …’The brother of Misty Crosslin, the last person to see Haleigh, is telling police that he was at the Satsuma home the night before the girl was reported missing ‘ …(and no one was home or answered the door)…

A missing white blanket with an animal pattern on it may be the clue to the killer(s) once it’s found…..

A well or septic tank may yield some evidence in this case…

The Police are watching Misty right now as a flight risk since she may try to leave the area…

Police should search near/under a bridge where a fort or tunnel is located for clues.

Someone close to Misty took Haleigh because he was upset that she turned down his affection/love toward her.

The person responsible for Haleigh’s disappearance has already been cleared/interviewed by the police.

This person may be connected to the case in searching for Haleigh or is connected to Law Enforcement, could be an informant or friend of a policeman somehow. (someone like Greg Pace could be this person)

There will be a break in the case on or about the 11th or 17th of Oct/Nov either in locating Haleigh’s remains or the arrest of Misty…or both..

This case should be resolved by November with the details of what happened during that night…

Expect emotional outburst from family members once the news outlets confront Misty’s family…

Violence and retribution toward other family members will be seen around Ronald when his son is removed from his care…

It was announced on NG tonight that Ron and Misty are getting a Divorce which in itself isn’t a shock, but what I’ve stated above is on target for this months findings that Misty will crack pretty soon, she’s all alone right now with her mother in jail and her family turning their back on her…

Don’t fall for Ron & Misty’s divorce, it’s a ploy by them to throw interference into the case. By Ron going in one direction and Misty in another it will divide the investigative resources of the Police and media…

Ron will eventually get back with Misty but he needs time to play with his friends and draw some more sympathy to him so he can get more money and donations, as long as Misty is under his roof most people will not support him financially…

Ron will secretly continue to support Misty but it will be out of the media’s view…

The road rage incident was intentionally made by Donna Brock so she could get away from Misty before she got hurt…Misty already knew that Donna was the undercover person I stated above in a previous post…

I do see Haleigh being taken at one time to a room under what looks like a bridge, or something that looks like a pump house or utility room under a major railroad track or highway…..but it may be a lift station (pump house) near a waterway or something similar there in Florida…

There are large granite rocks around this end of the bridge which leads me to believe its around or connected to water to protect it from erosion…I can see that there’s a road/tracks above this room but I haven’t figured out where it leads yet…

This room was filthy and looked like a place that drug users would visit to smoke or do drugs so it may be abandoned right now and just used by vagrants….

I did see something wrapped on the floor of this shed which leads me to believe that there is evidence located there but not the body of Haleigh..

I still keep seeing a small white car that’s somehow involved with this Misty in this case..but I believe that Haleigh will be found within walking distance from the original trailer..

Solitary confinement, or segregation, is used for several reasons. Inmates are put into segregation as a disciplinary measure for doing things like threatening or fighting with officers, escaping, destroying state property or setting fires. Segregation is used for medical reasons for inmates who may have infectious diseases (like tuberculosis) or who are refusing evaluation for infectious diseases. Segregation is used for protective custody if the inmate is a juvenile or if there are reasons to believe the inmate’s safety might be at risk in regular housing (also called general population). Finally, there are also mental health reasons for putting someone in segregation. Inmates who are new to the facility, who are frightened and need time to adjust, or who have had a recent trauma or loss may temporarily be put by themselves to give them a quiet place to deal with whatever is going on.

In free society segregation is used for therapeutic reasons too, although the terminology changes. On an inpatient unit “segregation” becomes “seclusion” even though the physical conditions may be identical, or very similar to, the physical environment in a prison. Seclusion rooms and segregation cells are usually bare with minimal comforts. The patient (or inmate) is deprived of access to outside resources and supports, with no regular recreation or entertainment. The food is, well, institutional food is institutional food.

The only real difference is that in free society when someone is put in seclusion there must be a clinical evaluation that finds an indication for using this intervention, usually unpredictability or evidence that the patient may be a danger to himself or others. The indication is documented and the patient is usually also observed at regular intervals. The order for seclusion must be rewritten at regular intervals and the basis for continued seclusion documented in the patient’s chart. In a correctional facility segregation does not have to be based on clinical need, and most often it’s not used for mental health reasons. Segregation is usually used for security and disciplinary reasons, in which case it’s called “disciplinary lockdown”. The length of confinement is predetermined, usually a few days to a few weeks. If the inmate is really really bad (has killed other inmates or correctional officers) or presents an extreme security risk (repeated escapes or organizing riots) the segregation may last for months or even years. Inmates have a lot to lose by being placed in lockdown for this long, so correctional facilities have due process protections in place to provide them with a chance to challenge their confinement. The legal steps used to place an inmate in lockdown are very similar to the process used for civil commitment in free society: the inmate is given a notice that documents the alleged behavior leading to the lockdown, he is given a hearing before an independent factfinder with a chance to present evidence and confront witnesses, and he’s given an opportunity to appeal the results of the disciplinary hearing. So, now that you have this background I’ll come to the real reason I want to talk about longterm segregation:

Inmate advocates allege that longterm segregation drives prisoners crazy. Whether you know it or not, millions of taxpayer dollars are spent every year litigating the use of longterm segregation. Specialized correctional facilities, known as control unit prisons, were invented specifically for inmates who require segregation for months or years. Class action suits filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy organizations allege that this causes psychiatric deterioration and psychosis, with some groups calling for closure of all control unit prisons.

But is this true?

The fact of the matter is that despite all the money we’ve spent regulating the use of control unit prisons and monitoring inmates who are on segregation, the data are sketchy. Epidemiologic studies have shown that the prevalence of psychiatric disorders among prisoners increases with each increase in security level—in other words you find more psychiatric patients in maximum security than in minimum security—but this does not prove that high security causes psychiatric disorder. In all likelihood, inmates with aggressive or disruptive behavior, such as those found in maximum security, are more likely to be diagnosed with a psychiatric illness. Aggressive antisocial or borderline inmates often are also concurrently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Conversely, inmates with psychiatric disorders are less likely to be classified to lower security levels where on-site psychiatry services may not be available. The epidemiologic findings are an artifact of the classification process and a reflection of our limited diagnostic schema.

I did a PubMed search (I’m big on these lately for some reason) using the terms “administrative segregation”, “longterm segregation”, “control unit prison” and “solitary confinement”. There are only about 20 significant articles on this topic going back 45 years—not exactly an overwhelming body of literature. Only four of the nineteen are controlled studies with data, while the majority are descriptive, theoretical or speculative in nature.

Contrast this with the court’s view of the psychological effects of control unit prisons, as outlined in David Fahti’s law review article “The Common Law of Supermax Litigation” (Pace Law Review Vol. 24:675, 2005):

“Federal courts continue to recognize as established fact that isolated confinement inflicts serious psychological harm on many prisoners.”

And in one case cited in the article:

“The effect of prolonged isolation on inmates has been repeatedly confirmed in medical and scientific studies”.

The medical articles cited in these legal cases are few, and are usually 20 years or more out of date. They point to the effects of social isolation and sensory deprivation, a line of research popular in the 1960’s when research into brainwashing was de rigueur for psychologists. Unfortunately, because most of these cases are settled by consent decree and rarely go to trial, this lack of scientific scrutiny is left unchallenged. The result is that courts are mandating that certain inmates be removed from segregation based on the presence or abscence of an Axis I DSM diagnosis, disregarding the inmate’s behavior and adjustment in previous facilities. In one case a court mandated that any inmate with a “serious personality disorder” be removed from a control unit prison—I imagine that must have pretty much emptied out the place.

In the county jail where I live segregation is a cell to themselves but there is still some contact, kind of. A Max(seg) is a pod that houses 3-4 cells and shares a shower and dayroom. The prisoners are not in the shower or dayroom at the same time (locked down 23 hours, shower and dayroom 1 hour) but they “can” communicate through the chuck-hole. Ron mentioned his chuckhole, food id passed and phone handed in made me wonder if most county seg’s are similar.

sure to look at Art Harris’ latest story -I had him clear up the “crack” issue, and he posted pictures of Crystal and the kids to combat the “doctored” photo issue. The comments after his story seem very positive.

Everyone should be instructed not to answer any questions about the crack pipe issue, or who the truck is owned by. No comment is the word on this. Marie: you need to be very careful of what Diane knows about this issue. If she reports that the truck was Chad’s, and that they were his old pipes, that would be extremely bad. DCF would most likely get involved, and Chad could get arrested. Every “Ron” fan on the internet would call the authorities and demand action against Chad and Crystal.

Yes, where I used to work was a very high profiled bed/board establishment, so I am familiar with the housing assignments. Inmates are routinely shuffled around depending of course the nature of the crimes/safety etc..or just LE tactics. And of course you have the ones that occupy a Single Suite!!! Some of ours were see through walls/doors (Plexiglas)type.

I had a feeling you had some experience in corrections. I have no personal experience on either side of the wall but I’m attending hearings and blogging about them in the case of a “alleged” (my ars)spree killer of 8 who has been held in our county for 1 of the murders since 7/08. He recently went to DOC for 7 years to wait for trial. He was held in a pod by himself because of fights with other inmates. Must have gotten bored….last April he used a newspaper to cover the camera and window in the dayroom and refused to respond…when corrections went in to get him he had tore the legs off of a metal chair and fought the gaurds with them….geesh!

Kat, yes I have been in the same room, stood next to, schedule Medical Appt, conversed… with some of the most AWFUL FOLKS. I can still recall having to deliver a pair of crusty ole glasses to a well-known predator.

I have no stake in defending anyone in this story…there are times that I feel sorry for each and every one of them (their pain is almost palpable)and other times they all seem to have agendas.
I think one of the issues here is that this “feud” was in action long before Haleigh went missing and they(all of them) have not found a way to put that aside and focus on babygirl.
Curious that hadn’t crossed my mind that the letter could have an effect on the bail amount…I can see where it might spur sympathy for someone to post it….but unless it is lowered $50 grand is a lot of sympathy.

Cathy, you’re absolutely right. At one time my sister had the idea that “some” new the truth, but were selfishly holding out and causing trouble, just to make a bigger name for themselves. Sometimes, I wonder if she was close to the truth.

It’s becoming quite the trend for folks to “profit” one way or the other on the back of these missing children. The really sad part is it is almost a necessity anymore to get and keep the spotlight on a given case. :`(

i have asked a few computer people if micro soft or some other company could make a background we all could run on our desktops to have alternating faces of missing children and adults in the united states. i have never gotten a positive responce. i did see where florida has something you can downlad and it runs amber alerts? i bet many people would run a missing person’s face program on their desktops. like milk carton pictures.

First, I wanted to tell you that it takes an amazing amount of strength, determination and courage to battle (and continue to win!) over your personal challenges.

Second, if the issues of this blog or this case in any way jeopardize that, it probably would be a good idea to not come back. Your health and happiness and peace of mind MUST come first.

And third, if that is not at risk, then I do hope you come back. I think the attacks you were talking about are just more sewage from the same pipe that some of us have been trying to stave off for a while now. Don’t let it get to you! We’ve been attacked too. And you once again showed great courage and honesty to not only change your point of view but to share that openly with everyone. You are one amazing person!

So if you come back, please know you are in good company with people standing by your side to share this particular burden and who do, like you, really want to find Haleigh more than anything else.

One thing that I noticed is that no one has even touched on the fact, that Sheriff Hardy`s son, was let go, and ended up going right back to his drug activities. I`m not sure when, but I believe he was shot and killed after he was let out of jail!
Could this be the reason that Tommy was moved!!!
I spent hours reading all the comments on the site related to Tommy.
At any rate, I am still hoping that little Haleigh is still alive! My heart is with her, as well as with the Croslins. They have been under a super microscope for months, and I would like Ronald`s family, and Crystal`s, to be put through the same scrutiny.
