It was the usual lively program. With it being the height of the vacation season we were down a couple of panel members. The panel consisted of Jan and Simon Barrett, investigator and bail bondsman William Cobra Staubs, crime writer and investigative journalist Denny Griffin, and reporter Dave Knechel.

Our first segment concerned the ongoing missing persons case out of Pearl River, Louisiana. 26 year old Zachary Pittman has been missing for over a year. To bring us up to speed on the latest developments we were joined by Zach’s mother, Christy Ragas. I think I can sum up progress in finding Zach in one word “NADA”. Christy has been trying to get hold of the lead detective Corey Crowe for 5 weeks. She has left repeated messages with both Cory Crowe and his supervisor, neither apparently can carve out 2 minutes from their busy schedule to return her phone calls. This is hardly the actions of any police department engaged in an active case. It is beginning to sound not cold, but frozen!

In the Caylee Anthony case we had plenty to chew on. Baez continues to hit the headlines with his defense of Casey Anthony. This week though brought headlines that he probably was not looking for. His $600,000 house is now worth half that amount, and taking a leaf from the George and Cindy Anthony tree has avoided paying the mortgage for 10 months. Needless to say the ‘note’ holders are not very happy, in fact they have instigated foreclosure proceedings.

This memory lapse over paying bills is not limited to his mortgage, a summary judgment for over $4000 was given to a court reporting company.

We spent a good deal of time talking about possible defense strategies, but, it is becoming clear to us here at BNN that this is not a Guilty/Not Guilty situation, it is a How Guilty?

It is a somewhat similar situation in the Haleigh Cummings case. Each week we hope that some sort of resolution will be found. And each week we are denied the resolution. I was firmly convinced that with the likely suspects behind bars, it would take mere days before someone broke. That, unfortunately has not yet happened.
