Republicans wanted a vote on off shore drilling, Nancy Pelosi wants to save the earth.

So Pelosi adjourned Congress, instead of staying in session to discuss a the bipartisan bill on energy that might authorize off coast oil drilling.

The Republicans objected and kept giving speeches. …and when the speeches wouldn’t stop, the Democrat turned off the lights and the CSPAN cameras.
End of story…1450 stories that Congress adjourned (all with the obligatory paragraph about the “bizarre” Republican revolt) but only 149 stories on the fact that 30 to 40 Republicans were holding a “Mr Smith Goes to Washington” type marathon that lasted for five hours. The WAPOblog asked:

If a party stages a protest on the House floor but no one can see or hear it, does it make a sound?

But Pelosi forgot about Twitter. LINK LINK
and Drudge

And the blogs were involved. Gateway pundit has a report.

The those cheerleaders of right and left, the Freepers and the DU guys were active following the story…
the Freepers even sent three dozen pizzas….

CSpan covered part of it in the dark then was reported as off line, but Fox got a phone video of the shenanigans, and someone posted it on google Video

What does this mean?

Well, it means although the Democrat netroots are sophisticated in using their techology to push their candidate, nevertheless the Democratic leadership is clueless on things like twitter, qik, cellphone cameras and blogroots.

Indeed,  Cuthberson’s use of his blackberry as a way for the congressmen to keep his constituents up to date has landed him in trouble before, with the Democratic leaders insisting that it was against the rules…except that the rules were written long before there were blackberries or IM.

I’m not taking a stand for or against offshore drilling, or for or against any party.

I am merely pointing out that the old rules of Congress that limit information about their actions don’t apply any more, and that the internet should now be considered bipartisan.

And yes I have a twitter account (which i don’t use…….Like McCain, I have limited computer literacy.

One of these days, I’m going to have to ask my grandson Luke to teach me how to use it.
