Ghost Hunters Reality TV:
TAPS Debunks, Entertains, Confirms the Paranormal
They’re called TAPS, The Atlantic Paranormal Society: Roto-Rooter men by day, ghost hunters at night.
I’ve been a fan of Ghost Hunters since I happened to catch a SCI FI channel episode of a TAPS investigation of the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, during Season Two. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, the two lead investigators and Roto-Rooter plumbers by trade, captured the ghostly image of a man who wore a cap that looked like military wear. Jason and Grant were able to capture the image of the ghost using a thermal imaging camera.
TAPS’ approach to ghost hunting lends to their credibility: they’re in the business of debunking a location rather than adding “ghost” sighting feathers in their collective TAPS caps.
As a fan of the show for several seasons, I’ve watched the TAPS crew as they traveled across the U.S. and overseas to interesting, and at times historical locations, they’ve even expanded into a TAPS International Ghost Hunters show.
Viewers are privy to the dynamics of the TAPS team: former Tech Manager Brian’s frequent firings by Grant and Jason and rehirings: Brian is now a member of the International Team. Steve Gonsalves, a former cop afraid of flying and heights, replaced Brian several seasons ago as head tech guy. Steve attempted to conquer his fear of heights when the TAPS crew investigated the St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida. That episode, as well as several others, was simply amazing. TAPS was able to record voices as well as an image leaning over the stair rail several stories above. A woman’s voice was caught on tape: “Help me”, the voice cried from up above. The following Youtube video shows the TAPS “reveal” portion of the show where Grant and Jason bring back evidence which either debunks or colloborates evidence that a location is haunted.

The following Youtube video is a compilation of just some of the paranormal activity caught on film and voice recording by TAPS:

TAPS has visited some interesting places such as the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum located in Weston, West Virginia. Also known as the Weston State Hospital, the asylum, now closed, was built in 1858. I happened to visit the location several months ago and was amazed at the size and structure:
The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, constructed between 1858 and 1881, is the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America, and is purportedly the second largest in the world, next to the Kremlin. It was designed by the renowned architect Richard Andrews following the Kirkbride plan, which called for long rambling wings arranged in a staggered formation, assuring that each of the connecting structures received an abundance of therapeutic sunlight and fresh air. The original hospital, designed to house 250 souls, was open to patients in 1864 and reached its peak in the 1950’s with 2,400 patients in overcrowded and generally poor conditions. Changes in the treatment of mental illness and the physical deterioration of the facility forced its closure in 1994 inflicting a devastating effect on the local economy, from which it has yet to recover.
The asylum looked “haunted”, a depository for lost souls who suffered the torment of mental illness. The asylum offers “haunted” tours.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI’m a big fan of Ghost Hunters as well and some of the images they’ve captured are really amazing. In the Sharon Tate investigation they were investigating a nearby house and getting paranormal response/answers to questions. Now, if I could ask questions, I would come up with better ones. 1. Have you seen God? 2. Is there a heaven? 3. Are you here in this dismal place all the time?
4. Can you hear and see us?
I’m sure there are even better questions, but you get the idea.
I agree with you, Val!
We love the show, too, and we are mesmerized when the team comes across an intelligent entity that responds to questions. I could watch an entire show of just questions and responses!
I wish the team and producers would take advantage of those communications, and air all of it. We are never bored with it, or grow tired of it. It’s absolutely riveting and always ends much too soon.
It’s my opinion that those who watch are keenly interested in the scientific proof of an after-life, but we are also equally as fascinated with learning what it’s like for some of those entities on the other side, as well.
hi gals, i am an advert believer, i’ve seen ghosts, they DO exist ! i have seen ghosts from a very young age, they’re actually every where…when i was 6 yrs old i seen my great grandmother who died many yrs befor i was born, i remember this distinctly because it was my first visit with my grandmother, she asked me how old i was, i told her 6 and she thought i said i was sick lol, anyway, i could see so many people standing around every where behind trees and on the edge of buildings who weren’t actually there etc…every time i went outside there was an old woman in a weird chair, it was a wheel chair, the old woman would only look at me, so i asked my grandmother who was the old woman in the weird chair, she showed me a photo album and i picked out the picture of my great grandmother, i told my grandmother that was the woman, she asked me what did she say, i told my grandmother the old woman never talked to me, she only looked at me, my grandmother told me i have the see’rs, now you have to know my grandmother was a very old country woman, not very educated but still very wise, she recognised my ability right off…now don’t get me wrong i don’t see ghosts any where or every where i go it doesn’t happen every day, i don’t see spirits now like i did as a child, there is a place/house in florida i would the ghost hunters to go, it’s totally haunted…it belongs to an ex boyfriend, every time i went there i felt scared as if something/someone was going to grab me, i would never go into a room by myself, there always had to be someone in the room first…any way one night i was laying in the bed and my ex boyfriend was asleep, i was staring at the ceiling fan, there was a crack in the ceiling and i seen what looked like a blach thread drop from the crack in the ceiling, i looked at the floor and there was a shape of a man standing there, he had no facial features, only a black shape of a short stocky man, looked as though his head was flat on top, as if he had a flat top/crew cut, what we used to call a hair cut back in the day lol, any way, he moved from the middle of the floor to the corner of the room, i wasn’t believing what i was seeing, i thought someone must be outside of the windows, i was to scared to move, i tried to glance from corners of my eyes, i didn’t want to move my head for fear who ever was outside would see me…so i just tracked this shadow by only moving my eyes, the shadow moved from the corner to the middle of the wall, then from the middle of the wall it moved to the side of the bed…i’m quite sure my eyes were bugging out lol…i just kept looking at the shadow, and it leaned down and got so close to me that all i could see was black i couldn’t see either side or top or bottom, i gasped and jumped back ! i screamed at ben “my ex” i screamed there’s someone in here ! ben switched on the lamp on his bed, there was no one, i made him get up and look under the bed and in the closet, i told him there was someone in the room ! i had seen him ! well the next day he had some fun at my expense…he told all his friends that i had seen a ghost i got preety pissed off abouit it, i told him his house was warped and i wouldn’t be back grrrrr he said ok ok, there were other families who lived in the house and left claiming the house to be haunted….oh oh oh, there was a wash house in the back yard, and you had to tote your clothes out there, i washed my clothes and whn i took them out of the washer they smelled like sewage, i put them in the dryer and asked my ex boy friend what was up with that, he said he didn’t know that had never happened to him, i’m thinking that ghost doesn’t like females

I’m a fan of ghost hunters. I can not wait untill they back on the air! I miss the show like an old friend!!!thanks for being on again in 2009!!!!!!
the show is o.k.better than the other where the guys scream like little girls but G.H.never stays till 3;00a.m. 12:00 a.m. is hollywood. the only other big bummer is the noise, they play so many b.s sounds you cant here what the hell is being said.also when one of the guys asks the ghost to talk to them, instead of waiting and listening they always start talking and always say “what was that” shut up. oh , i like the guy thats afraid of everything the one with all the tats.at least he faces his fears.
I m such a big fan of Ghost Hunters…and i love the videos…well i kud love to go and look up for a ghost-U GUYZ KEEP IT UP
I have enjoyed GH for many years.Yes, I do believe in the “spirit world” and have experienced several encounters of my own. I have always wondered why Jason will not reveal his own ghostly encounter! Living in Ohio, I really loved the Wright Patterson episode. Ohioans know the the Airforce base has its’own brand of hauntings. It is truely amazing that two Roto Rooter employees can leave work long enough to chase ghosts and still have jobs when they return. I want that kind of job! Keep up the good work.
