In the process of genetic engineering, the allergens from one food can be transferred to another thought to be safe to eat and, unknowingly, cause allergies, delayed food sensitivities, food intolerances and in some cases even death.

The unknown chemicals used in gene splicing contribute to obesity by putting more foreign invaders into your body that cause chaos and inflammation in your homeostasis. According to Dr. Dantini, the consumption GMO Bt corn and Bt soy by humans leads to allergies and delayed food sensitivities.

GMO corn and cotton are engineered with Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) to produce their own built-in pesticide in every cell. Simply put, the Bt toxin is part of plant’s DNA and repeats itself in every cell. When bugs bite the plant, the poison splits open their stomach and kills them. Because Monsanto’s Roundup is a known endocrine “disrupter”, it causes everything from obesity to prostate cancer.

The Bt toxin produced in GMO plants is thousands of times more concentrated than natural Bt spray. Studies confirm that even the less toxic natural bacterial spray is harmful. Unlike the spray, the gene spliced Bt toxin can’t be washed off. Bt toxin is designed to be more toxic and has the properties of an allergen.

In Zambia, Monsanto’s GMO Bt corn is given by the U.S. as food aid. It is the subject of controversy and public outrage. The GMO corn dissolves the digestive system of the caterpillars that farmers in Zambia eat for protein. The people of Zambia are concerned that the Bt toxin in the GMO corn that dissolves a caterpillar’s digestive system will also harm them.

In India, animals graze on cotton plants after harvest. But when shepherds let sheep graze on Bt cotton plants, thousands died. Their livers were severely damaged. In a small follow-up feeding study by the Deccan Development Society, all sheep fed Bt cotton plants died within 30 days. Those that grazed on natural cotton plants remained healthy.

In a small village in India, buffalo grazed on cotton plants for eight years without incident. On January 3, 2008, the buffalo grazed on Bt cotton plants for the first time. All 13 were sick the next day; all died within 3 days. Bt corn was also implicated in the deaths of cows in Germany, and horses, water buffaloes and chickens in the Philippines.

When dispersed by plane to kill gypsy moths in the Pacific Northwest, about 500 people reported allergy or flu-like symptoms. Some had to go to the emergency room. The exact same symptoms are now being reported by farm workers throughout India who have handled Bt cotton. In 2008, based on medical records, the Sunday India reported, “Victims of itching have increased massively this year related to BT cotton farming.”

A November 2008 study by the Italian government also found that mice have an immune reaction to Bt corn. Even Monsanto’s own research showed significant immune system changes in rats fed Bt corn.

GMO Bt corn and GMO Bt hops are used to make beer. Anheuser Bush brags about using corn from Iowa in their beers. As a result, we now have GMO beer. It’s a little-known fact that “certified organic” beer can be brewed with non-organic hops as a result of a USDA ruling made in 2007.

In May 2009, the British Medical Association condemned the use of “marker” genes in crops and GMO food that help create drug-resistant bacteria. Marker genes are indicators which show that other genes have been successfully transferred to a plant. But some have been shown to produce a resistance to antibiotics. The report said the use of antibiotic-resistant genes in GMO foods was “a completely unacceptable risk….”

Further research has linked the toxicity of GMO potatoes to a promoter-virus used in the biochemical creation of GMO seeds that would affect the health of humans, water fowl and animals.

The consensus among independent scientists and researchers is that GMO foods are dangerous and that any use of them should be prominently displayed on a product label to give the average consumer a choice. The FDA decided against warnings to the general public against the advice of its own scientists. Big Food doesn’t want you to know that GMO products can trigger allergies, digestive illnesses, diabetes and cancer.
