Various different events have been held in states all across America over the years to raise money to fund research into the asbestos cancer known as malignant mesothelioma. Recently a fun run took place in Illinois, with funds being donated to a mesothelioma research foundation.

The fun run took place in Alton, Illinois and was called the Miles for Meso 5K Race. One law firm that sponsored the even stated: “We represent victims of mesothelioma and we’re always looking for creative ways to help.” He said that participants had an entry fee of fifteen dollars, and this was then matched by the law firm.

Thousands of dollars were raised as a result of the fun run, and the proceeds are to be donated to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. The foundation helps to move research into this asbestos cancer forward as well as providing support for victims of the disease.

The law firm supporting the event also went on to state: “It’s such a rare disease, most doctors have never worked with this before. The foundation connects people with the best care they can get.”
