Sports Journalists Association have elected officials to run their affairs leaving out major radio and print journalists and  some radio stations in an election termed by the aggrieved journalist as scrap. The new sports journalists group which changed their name to Gambian Professional Sports Journalists Association, have been blamed by other sports journalists that the election was not fairly done. Moses Ndene and Abdul Gafa both veteran sports journalists said on the City Limit Radio on their talk show on sports that it was not right to have their election before their convention. They said they  did not have any convention to put modalities in place for a proper election.

Namory Tarawally was re-elected as their president and Sainabou Kujabi as their Secretary. Others believe that the Gambia Professional Journalists Association is between Point Sports journalists and GRTS.

They have been issued an ultimatum to either dissolve the new executive within one week or they will launch a  new group to be known as Gambia Sports Journalists Association, a name the ruling group dropped adopting the professional name. The new sprinter group think that they are more professional than those chosen few.

Peter Gomez of West Coast Radio, Moses  Ndene of  City Limits and Abdul Gafar of City Limits both of whom are called the DEVILS  for their strong points of view on the radio are all left out among others.
