When PFC Janeesa Marie Lewis, 29, didn’t show up for physical training at her job in Fort Bliss Friday morning soldiers from her unit were sent to check on her at her apartment. When they found no one home, they went to the manager’s office and called the El Paso police. When police arrived they entered the apartment around noon to do a welfare check. They didn’t find Janeesa but they say that they did find evidence within the apartment to give them reason to believe there was foul play and that she might be in trouble but they declined to say what evidence they found.

The detectives think that she is somewhere with her husband, Clinton William Lewis, 34, who is not a member of the military. El Paso Police spokeswoman Officer Chris Mears says that investigators are looking for Clinton Lewis to question him about his wife’s disappearance.

“We are speaking with soldiers that know her,” said Mears. Those who know Janeesa say the couple has been having marital problems.

PFC Lewis has been at Ft. Bliss for two months and is with the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. She has three children who are staying with relatives in Tennessee.

Janeesa Lewis is described as 5 ft 4 inches tall, 125 lbs. and she has brown eyes and brown hair. Clinton Lewis is described as 6 ft tall and 180 lbs with green or blue eyes and balding. They might be traveling in a white Dodge Dakota pickup with Texas License plate # 20Z-FD7. Anyone that sees them is asked to please call Police Communications at 832-4400 or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-8477.

PFC Lewis is the fourth young female in the military to disappear this year. The other three women were later found dead. I hope this won’t end the way those three cases did.
