For many years diseases such as the asbestos cancer known as mesothelioma have been linked to high level and long term exposure to the potentially deadly carcinogenic asbestos. However, one family is warning that low level asbestos exposure can also pose a danger.
Enid Costello developed mesothelioma after being exposed to low levels of asbestos during the course of her work. She was employed by Van Leer in the UK, and died as a result of the cancer. Her family has now spoken out to warn others of the dangers of low level exposure to asbestos.
The family of the deceased have now won compensation following the death of Enid. Her daughter, Karen, spoke out about how people should not underestimate the dangers of lower level exposure, as most of the time asbestos related diseases are only ever linked to higher level exposure.
Exposure to asbestos can cause a range of serious health problems, one of which is asbestos related cancer known as mesothelioma. Other health issues including scarring of the lungs and respiratory problems.
