I for one am a huge fan of humor. My favorite is humor of the dry and acerbic style. Humor is fun, and should be taken for what it is. Alas it would seem that the concept of humor is beyond the grasp of China.

The gloriously irreverent web site the Onion released a fabulous piece of satire about their 2012 quest to find the sexiest man on the planet. There is nothing unusual about this basic idea, periodicals have been doing it for years.

The Onion is well named, as you peel the layers, you cry, but you cry in laughter.

The 2012 most sexiest man is North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un.

A quote from the article:

“He has that rare ability to somehow be completely adorable and completely macho at the same time,” Onion Style and Entertainment editor Marissa Blake-Zweibel said. “And that’s the quality that makes him the sort of man women want, and men want to be. He’s a real hunk with real intensity who also knows how to cut loose and let his hair down.”

Alas China missed the humor. The Peopledaily.com.cn swallowed it hook line and sinker! Main site,

It is doubtful that the Chinese will keep the article running for long, but I do have a screen grab.

Even more fun is the article, read it while you can.

There has been no official comment from North Korea yet. It is entirely possible that Kim Jong-Un does not even know about this great award. It is thought by some that there are only three people in North Korea with internet access, and they likely are far too busy playing FarmVille (attempting to get ideas on how to feed a starving population) than checking out the international news.

The is no doubt that North and South Korea have very different viewpoints. South Korea has Psy and Gangnam Style:

North Korea has Kim Jong Un

Who will win?
