One of the greatest innovations in home entertainment is the “Best of” DVDs that allow fans to watch episodes of their favorite TV shows without the commercial breaks and get bonus features such as interviews with stars.

“Best of” has just released two new DVD sets for the acclaimed comedy series, “Will and Grace.”  Will & Grace: Best of Love & Marriage and Will & Grace: Best of Friends & Foes each feature 16 episodes that span the life of the series, and fans will enjoy going back to early episodes and remembering how the characters were first introduced and how they evolved through the years.

One of the episodes featured on the Best of Friends & Foes DVD is a twist on the standard “other woman” story. Grace is too busy to spend time with Will, so he finds a new woman friend. The episode is “Grace Replaced” and has one of the funniest lines of the series. Grace and the “other woman” fought over taking care of Will who is sick, and then they make up and “bond.” As they are exiting the scene, Will shakes his head and says, “Straight guys have got to be out of their minds.”

That ability to talk directly about things was one of the strengths of this series. Sometimes it was campy and a bit too over the top with swishy Jack and goofy Karen, but the writers were never afraid to explore the subtle differences between gay and straight, as well as the subtle similarities. Relationships have so much more to them then sexual orientation.

This collection features the favorite and most memorable guest stars including Jennifer Lopez, Kevin Bacon, Glenn Close, Britney Spears, Matt Damon and more. And there are plenty of funny bits with all of them. In one episode Jack has been obsessed about a Cher doll and brings it to a dinner with Will and Grace. They can’t deal with his obsession and walk out. A few minutes later, Cher walks in. Jack is convinced the woman is a drag queen who is not doing  a very good impersonation of Cher, so he takes it upon himself to show her how to move and talk like Cher.

Will & Grace: Best of Love & Marriage features unforgettable hookups, breakups and shakeups including Rosario’s green card marriage to Jack, Karen accusing Stan of cheating and Grace meeting Leo for the first time.

The 2-disc sets feature hysterical themed featurettes, and Will & Grace: Best of Love & Marriage also features audio commentaries with cast and crew.  Both sets will be available on May 5, 2009 for the suggested retail price of $19.98 each. The sets are available from Lionsgate through a license agreement with NBC Universal Television, DVD, Music and Consumer Products Group.
