A majority of African Americans who saw Duane Chapman’s interview on Larry King express a willingness to forgive dog the bounty hunter provided his remorse and humility was genuine. I made a point of asking one of my neighbors who is black to watch the show so I could solicit his opinion. “Mostly I would say its his upbringing that caused him the trouble” my friend remarked. I asked if he felt it would be appropriate for A&E to give him his job back. “Yea and he should spend some of the salary they pay him on adult education”. “The thing is, Not so much what the “Dog” was saying” “It’s a black minister willing to come on National t.V.’ and say now look here brothers and sisters, I am this mans spiritual leader and while he may need counseling on the use of profanity and slurs he is not a racist and I am also telling you he is a believing Christian and a friend of mine”
The king interview revealed a man who confirmed my previous opinion its not so much an issue of racism with the Dog as it is a lack of education and impulse control. Some cash spent on a few verbal advantage tapes and anger management courses would be a good step toward achieving his stated desire to become something other then where he came from.
I speculate many African Americans would object and loudly if A&E or another network decides to return the Dog to America’s living room. But the final decision comes down to dollars and cents. Dog has lots of fans and those fans some of who are black are the ones who ultimately decide what sells and what does not.
Dog appeared during the king show to bear his soul for all to judge, It seemed more about attempting to convince those who would listen of the sincerity of his shame then the want to get his show back.
He may not return to the air anytime soon but I think he did convince a lot of people his regret was heartfelt. Â

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI do not forgive the dog and would never watch his show again. He’ll get his show back and probably more money just like imuse, because there are hicks and biggets who run this country and in high places who feel about us the same way they do. He’s in the big time country club now. No I would never forgive him.
I hope she, the girl he was refuring to sues his ass off.
The fact is he never said anything to anyone other than his own son in what was to be a privet phone call. He never ment to hurt anyone so I have no doubt he is truly sore so many people got hurt by this, no doubt at all. I wish people would turn the to the person that, just for money, made this tape public. He knew that when he did it would hurt so many people in america, but for money, he did it anyway. Now I know what he said was just awfull, but to me is forgivable, but what his son did to us all was unforgivable.
Thanks and may god bless
The thing is even DOG says he made a mistake but he was set up they had tried to set up beth before this, True he should not have said that word but it was suppose to be a private call not one being recorded so his son could sell it for money. He should sue his son but we know he wont do that lets just hope every one heals over this soon and he gets back on his show soon before the organized boyccotaginst A+E and yum brand foods really hits.
Where is the logic behind this article? How do you extrapolate the opinion of 1 black guy and a black minister who is probably on Dog’s payroll to every Black person?
This wasn’t just some guy having a private conversation w/ his son. It was an employer backed by an international media company and publicly traded sponsors saying in the most vile terms that merely associating with a black person was good enough reason to fire his own flesh and blood.
Of course, he sorry. . . . THAT HE GOT CAUGHT in all his phony glory. His son did a wonderful thing in exposing his 2 faced racist father.
I havent encountered a single self-respecting African American who supports this idiot.
Why is it that the “N” word is used so freely in the African American society? But as soon as a white man uses this word the society that uses this word so openly and freely wants to hang the white man! The past is “OVER” let it be and grow up AMERICA! Is your lives so simple that you get so caught up over a “WORD”, if a African American was to call the “DOG” a cracker or honkey then this blog wouldn’t even be on the web, so let it go and…
Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, and let go of what you can’t change. Kiss slowly, play hard, love deeply, forgive quickly, take chances, give everything, and have no regrets. Life is too short to be anything but HAPPY
I’m really tired of hearing about a white man use the n word and everyone comes down on him. But when a black person use it, will nothing is wrong . Will I’m sorry but, black people are sending the wrong message. You can’t have it both ways if it’s wrong for whites to use it, then it’s wrong for blacks, make up your minds, this racial crap has to go. It’s getting old.
Sorry for the incomplete note we left above. What we meant to say was that we agree with what Wise Ale says. What’s okay for a black person to use should be okay for Dog to use too. A&E should not have pulled Dog’s show off the air because of one hickup. They should have listened to what the people say before making a decision. We are tired of hearing the word ‘racial’ here in America. We should be an United country, not divisive. If we say something to offend someone we need to make peace with that person or individual and not to the whole Country. Dog is doing good deeds and let him continue bringing bad people to justice. America is punishing him for saying the ‘N’ word and it is not even a bad word compare to some of the languages we all use that are not supposed to be heard or use. America needs to give Dog back his job and let him continue doing what he loves to do – bringing bad people to justice.
My daughter (8 yrs)loves to watch his show and is saddened by this nonsense.
We love you Dog … fight for what is right and God will be on your side.
Mahalo.
If Black America Forgives him, how come nobody asked me.
That’s simple: Because You Don’t Matter! LOL!!
First of all…white people can’t do everything that (us) black people do. If I feel like I wanna say something about black people like saying “wuts up my n*g*a, then I will. That is something that has been going on for years. Just like slavery. It’s like a cultural greeting. No one will ever make me stop saying it and I don’t give a darn about what anyone has to say about it. But if I do hear a white person saying it, I am definitely going to react…and not positively either. If you are not black…then keep it out of your mouths!!! Simple as that!!!
