No matter where you are in the world, even in areas where water seems abundant, water conservation is important.

Would you like to learn some useful ways of conserving water in your home?

How about cutting down your water bill? Sound good?

Below are seven simple ways you can make water your new best friend and keep him hanging around longer.

  1. Rinse your razor in the sink! Fill the sink with a few inches of warm water. This trick will rinse your razor just as well as running water, but won’t use any where near as much water.
  2. Verify that your home is leak-free, as many homes have stealth water leaks. Be sure to check your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter doesn’t read exactly the same, there is a leak.
  3. Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily. Dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet. Yes, don’t roll your eyes, i’m talking to you…
  4. Keep  a bottle of drinking water in the fride – Running tap water to cool it off for drinking water is very wasteful.
  5. The most water efficient methods for cooking vegetables are microwaving, steaming or using a pressure cooker. You can also cut down on water loss by using tight lids on pots and simmering instead of boiling rapidly
  6. Take shorter showers – Replace your showerhead with an ultra-low-flow version. Various units are available that allow you to cut off the flow without adjusting the water temperature knobs.
  7. Don’t let water run while shaving or washing your face. Brush your teeth first whilst you’re waiting for the water to heat up, then wash or shave after filling the basin. Pretty straightforward and easy ay?

So now you have one choice to make will you care for mother nature, or will you be ignorant and continue to waste water. That’s for you to choose.

Remember ‘Water has feelings too.’
