I have noticed a huge amount of online interest in an article I wrote about this company last year. I think it is only fair to share this latest Press Release with you all. Rather than backing off, they are now becoming even more aggressive.
For those of you that missed my first growl about this company and their practices, you can find it here.
As best I can tell companies like Nielson are reputable, they ask before they collect. People like comScore, and their other sleazy operations should ask for permission before snooping.
Why does comScore only have an ‘Opt Out’ option? At no point do they tell the user that they are being snooped on. It is only after web owners start to find problems with their page load times that they discover that comScore is the issue! Here is the latest problem that you have to face.
Greetings:
comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today announced the introduction of Video Metrix 2.0, the next generation of comScore’s industry leading online video measurement service. The new service offers several enhancements – including reporting of online video ad impressions – designed to better align with the realities of today’s online video landscape. For more information on Video Metrix 2.0, please visit www.videometrix2.com.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI just had the b.scorecardresearch.com causing hanging while trying to go to Sourceforge.net, I put
127.0.0.1 b.scorecardresearch.com
in the hosts file and the hanging stopped.
Thanks for the great help in finding this pest
Sorry, I forget to say I am running FireFox 3.5.1
with no addons except Java quick starter,
and XP and Service Pak 3
My HTML skills largely MIA. Doesn’t mean I didn’t notice something up … IMMEDIATELY. This morn, in my browser … and homepage load performance.
Did go to (skumsookin) whorecard research’s homepage. Clicked another page, an in turn the embedded (in text) opt out.
Pooter running fine, fix instantaneous.
Won’t waste the time communicating my fondness and affection to/for them (caustic dripping sarc tag on).
But will express gratitude for the thread … Thanks!
Elmo
I have this issue as well. I did “opt out” through the website. However, now there is a new one called Ptrack. I didn’t get the rest of the url as I just noticed this new one when I tried to upload images through my website server and it would not allow me then to download the same images back onto my website.
This is such a waste of my time trying to block this, opt out here.. My lands. SO frustrating.
Anyone else have issues with Ptrack (don’t know the rest of the url) ?
