Spike are not known for their finesse, or deep thinking programing, preferring to go for the shock and instant impact. This two part series will certainly fit their ideal demographic of young males. What could be more ghoulish than a two part series on the subject of bizarre deaths?

Created by Thom Beers, the mastermind behing the Discovery Channel “The Deadliest Catch”, “1,000 Ways to Die” is a show about people who died stupid, avoidable deaths or otherwise met an untimely demise. The two-part special tells true stories of actual deaths and recreates them through acting, colorful narration and CGI, along with the commentary of pathologists, toxicologists, and other forensic experts.

This is the TV version of the very amusing internet  ‘Darwin Awards’ that are handed out annually, posthumous to members of society who have sacrificed their lives in order to protect the gene pool. Evolution is based on the premise that the fittest and best survive!

In what is a strange combination of reality TV and pure voyeurism, this will be a ‘must see’ series.

Spike has some information and clips on their web site. A 1000 Ways To Die premiers at 11pm ET/PT on Wednesday May/14.
