Russian defector poisoned in London

And here we thought the KGB went the way of the Berlin Wall.

A former colonel in the Russian Secret Service, who also happens to be a harsh critic of Russian president Vladimir Putin, is being protected by armed guards in a London hospital after attending an arranged meeting with a journalist.

Andrew Litvinenko and his family have been living in hiding since his defection.  He agreed to meet at a restaurant with the un-named woman journalist because she claimed to have information about the murder of another Putin critic in Moscow.  Test results at the hospital showed that Litvinenko had indeed been poisoned with thalium, a colorless and odorless liquid that attacks the central nervous system.
